Anyone ever tear a pec? Not sure what just happened, but it hurts like a bitch.

Doing incline and my pec kinda had a popping feeling, I was able to press and rack the bar though, so I assume it isn't that serious, right?

Some redness and swelling/pain starting to set in. happened about 25 mins ago

Think I may have done some damage?

Are your bruising if you start getting deep brushing your tore the muscle. You may have just over strained it.

Is it kind of radiating heat?
 
Where on your pec did you feel the pop? Where does it hurt?



Its entirely possible you may have just disrupted some muscle fibers. Not really a tear but something that may need a week or two to heal. Same exact thing happened to my wife couple weeks ago. She felt a poping tearing feeling up by where the chest meets the clavicle. It got worse for 2 days then stayed sore for days after. then gradually got better. She is fine now.

I'd call it a day bro and go home. Ice it, ice it ice it. Obviously you dont want to heat it. I know Nsaids are bad but 800mg of motrin/advil initially to take the initial inflammation down would be a good thing.
 
You def want to get that swelling down I agree with burn you may have just disrupted some fibers. If you see bruising start go to the doctor. The last thing you want is a muscle tear and not have a doc look at it. They can usually do something like a compression brace to force the muscle back together to prevent a lot of scar tissue build up.

I tore my quad and now have an assload of scar tissue in it that I need taken out cause I didn't go to a doc soon enough.

Update this morning, still swollen, fucking hurts, but no discoloration at all. I have full ROM, so I don't think it's serious.

Good to hear. Sounds like you just seperated some fibers. I always do 3 sometimes 4 warmup sets for chest along with rotator cuff warmups to always make sure everything is nice and full of blood.

like burn said bro, ice the fuck out of it atleast 3 times a day for 10-15 minutes...nsaids for a few days to help with pain and reduce the inflammation.

i would get a scan done , your biggest danger is making it worse through heavy training.

I have learned this the hard way, a break from training will speed up recovery and i am now a big fan of Tb-500.( some GH if you have it )
 
Ice for a couple days (2-3), then heat. No upper body work for a while until it heals. Definitely some advil for a few days - 800 mg a day 3/day.

I am recovering from a pec tear in the belly of the muscle. When it happened it was a burning feeling and I was done benching that day. It brusied and was a rainbow of colors that ran down my rib cage and the inside of my arm. I didn;t go to the dr right away. Big mistake. It has taken literally months to heal and the dr said I waited way too long so there was nothing that could be down. My benching days were almost over, but luckily, after several month the damaged muscle scarred over and stops contracting. This was almost a year process and I am still taking it easy. If it is irritating you, do not continue to work it. I could not blow through this injury and I just made things worse by continuing to try and work it. The physical pain was nothing compared to the psychological pain of maybe never being able to work chest or at least be limited there. I hope yours is just minor, best of luck.

I would see a doc ASAP. It may need surgery to fix it right.
