Keep 'em coming.

Theres this guy whose father is getting old and needs to be taken care of.

The man decides it is best that he puts his father in a nursing home.

After the man puts his father in the home he starts feeling bad that he has left his father in a home and not taken care of him himself.

The next morning the father calls up his son and sounds really excited.

The man says "dad you should great how is everything going"?

The father tells his son that the places is great. He says " I woke up this morning with morning wood and this amazing nurse came over and sucked me off. This place is great".

The son is releived by what he hears since earlier he felt guilty for leaving his father.

The next week the son calls his father and when he answers he notices his father sounds really upset.

The son asks his dad whats wrong.

The father responds with " son today I was walking down the hallway and I slipped and fell, then some huge red headed hillbilly picked me up ripped my pants off and fucked me in the ass"

The son is stunned by what he hears but responds with "well dad you gotta take the Good with the Bad, the good part is that you get blowjobs in the morning".

The father says "well that would be fine, I could take the good with the bad but the problem is I only get morning wood once a month and I fall down like 6 times a day".

Vinyl,

Your post was brilliant!! Education alone will NOT get you to where you want to be.

I make a very good living and I had an opportunity to finish my education. In my field what is important is experience and not really education. I chose to take my education further because it was something that I could be VERY proud of.

If you are doing great on you own without school then that is great. You should really pat yourself on the back. But you should not bash education. I worked my ass off!! I worked full time, taught in the morning and went to school full time as well. I didn't do all this to hear that it was a waste of my time. When I stood on the podium I was so proud. Not because I could get a better job and make more money, but because I accomplished something.

Money is great, but sometimes it's not only about money. It takes discipline and dedication to get a degree. Atleast it did in my case.

That's right, and if you decide at some point in the future that you want to get out of IT and pursue something else, you have the educational background that will enable you to do that.

If nothing else, education also gives you choices that you otherwise wouldn't have.

worst story ever
let me give you one that actually happened

Greg's parents were never wealthy and Greg had to really work for everything he got. When Greg was around 18/19, he was debating going to university or getting a job right away. Well Greg was a very smart man, and decided it would be worth it to work his way through university. Well 4 years later he graduated from a good university with a degree in accounting, and within months he was hired into the accounting department of one of North America's largest business realestate firms. This is something he wouldnt have even been able to dream about without a degree
Well long story short, he worked his way up to President mostly because of the skills he learned in Uni (but also had a lot to do with his own drive and ability to use the those kills obviously)... and now he's making just over $7 million a year, just got a $3 million bonus, and one of his 5 $100,000+ cars is a E55 AMG, paid for by the company

This is my best friend's dad, and trust me, I've seen his WEEKLY pay check laid out on his counter... its pretty fucking large too. I've spoken to him about it as we're fairly close, and he wouldnt suggest for a second not going to Uni and getting a degree. This is a guy who knows the business market like the back of his hands, and I have complete trust in the guy.

Think about this too. 80% of small businesses fail within their first 2 years... This has a lot to do with the fact that these guys opening these businesses have no real skills and don't know the market and stuff as well as someone who has formal education in that field... i mean sure one of every 10000 may make it huge, but the mean salary for these ppl isnt gonna compare to what uni grads make...

and btw, stop trying to make yourself feel better for not pursuing post-secondary education... it wasnt a good move despite what you tell yourself.

Good post.

sigweed, really good post.

However, there are very similar stories of people who did not go to college, became very successful in life, and now profess how unnecessary a college education really is...

There is also the opposite extreme: for example,
Meet John: a millionaire and very successful businessman. John attained both a degree from a very prestigious University and also attained his PhD in mathematics. John attests his success to acquiring his PhD, and suggests this path to anyone and everyone.

Being successful is a matter of intelligence (usually signified by a college education), connections, 'street smarts', people skills, luck, and I am sure there are other factors...

Point being, there is not one and only one factor to becoming successful in life...
