How can you tell?

Read the Signs of Overtraining Thread in the Women's Forum. Ladies discussed this earlier this week and there is some useful info on the posts.

Im going crazy in the gym thats why im asking...i went from 227lbs to 242 and am not letting myself to take a day off.

Me too... under stress and feeling anxious lately too so I couldn't figure out if my symptoms were more stress related or overtraining. I am just finishing up a high volume routine and don't feel exhausted from it but can't imagine why my body isn't like "hold up baby!"

When I was overtraining before I felt a constant dull ache in my legs that would not go away. I thought it was from dance but it was from overtraining. You'll definitely feel off - overtraining comes with symptoms.

You need a day off though!!! Your muscle growth happens at rest. You know that :-)

not being able to sleep at night, aching joints, muscle soreness beyond regular soreness...

Read the womens' forums

your cns would feel pretty beat + colds/flu etc / Lowered immune I always thought no? definitely would feel fatiuged all day and just overall wack

ahahahah, thats just a little quote a strongman i know of has said. I agree with it, provided its not possible for everyone to do but if you eat and sleep enough you can recover from your workouts.

Woots this might mean that if you weren't working out that many days you could be making even better gains than those you are doing right now.

Try taking naps. I have been sleeping about 10-12hrs at night and take a nap during the day around 1-1.5hrs and it seems to be doing wonders for my recovery.

I thought i had something because i was sleeping all the time but i guess my body was just telling me sleep more and i can handle this beating your giving me, ahaha.

Well providing the joints are ok at your age overtraining doesn't seem an issue even more that by doing strongmen events stuff you don't lose time with exercises that can't get you there.

I do alot of compounds and heavy stuff then when im shot and cant push heavy and hard i do some lightist high rep stuff at the end until failure just to beat the muscle to a pulp.

Light reps are still good for flushing away the toxines and metabolic waist out of the muscle nd helping with the recovery process.

+1 on the active recovery

Light cardio after training or the next morning can work wonders as well.
