OUUUUU I'm so freaking siked

Frisky

I went out on a whim and applied for a few jobs that were here in LA and recieved a call yesterday. Basically the same business/ oilfield related. And less drama ( don't have to do the IT work or the data entry or any data books, just basically do cad and modeling ) And was offered 15k more a year :)

Wish me luck please

I though I'd have to relocate to Baton Rouge but he said he could prolly place me here in lafayette, which is where I work now.

I'm totally siked and scared all at the same time. I've been with this company for over 6 years and I love these people... but im really overloaded without the compensation to match. I had an offer to go out on my own but I'm scared to death to do that because I need stability for me and my kids, I need a constant income and a home business isn't set in stone.

I guess i really just need to take the plunge and do something. I could pull in a good 30k more a year if I go solo, or a more 15k a year if i venture into this business. I have to do extensive background checks to see how stable the business is though.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!

When a door closes in one place, a window cracks a bit someplace else. You just may need to pry that fucker totally open so you can get yo ass through! LOL

working on the resume, he was very impressed with my knowledge and my background and told me he would love to see me with them. I don't know the company at all and before I get out of this stable enviroment and jump ship to a new company I really need to do my work. He is willing to pay me what I requested (which was 15k more than i make now) Said my background and my training is awesome. I will of course have to give at least 3 weeks notice here and he knows that. I'm training someone now in our engineering dept. My immediate boss and I have not been seeing eye to eye lately, and I am the kind of person that speaks my mind. So..... NOT GOOD. But I do have the last three evaluations that he gave me for raises and all are great, So if he tries to say anything other then I have these copies to back me. I guess I am just trying to cover my bases, and make sure that i'm not screwed... ya know.

I'm hoping all goes well, im just hella nervous about going to a new company

Bite the bullet.
Even if it's not the right place for you it will be a jumping board for you to focus on what you want for your future.

Do you know what happened to the previous person in that position? We have a VP here that goes through assistants at a rate of about one every three months.

The position pays well, about 70k to start with full benefits, so they never have any trouble filling the spot. The problem is him and his inability to work with people. Even though he's a VP, there are really only two people who report to him directly.

You are wise to want to know all you can about the strength of the company. What is harder to find out, and often overlooked, is the history of that particular position in the company. If they are going through a lot of overturn at the position there is usually a good reason.

I had a good 30min convo with him yesterday and seems due to the overload they are seeking new employees, not replacement. I honestly believe i requested to low of an salary, because he jumped on it like white on rice. LOL

we shall see...

YAY get out of that male chauvanism place

LOL

I took a job like that once they had gone through 4 people in 6 months prior to my coming.

I needed a job at the time so I sucked it up - GOD was he a dick - a few months later when my money problem was fine I could have left but I was comfortable and didn't know what I wanted to do next. So as time pasted I growled at him (yah literaly) every time he was being a dick (which was for a variety of reasons) and he would actually start to laugh whenever I did. After a while after he'd say something he'd keep looking at me waiting for my response so I stopped growling.

About ten or so months later he became a bit more human - when it hit the one year mark he gave me a card to celebrate the year.

I resigned that same week.

I may be silly in my thinking - but I suspect we both learned something about ourselves that year.

There was one person who was fired but hired back as an independent contractor one department over. It was particularly embarassing for him because not only was the person in constant interaction with him, but probably earning twice what they were previously with far fewer hours.
