my left got bigger than my right due to me struggling on the bench and incline from a shoulder injury but seems to be catching up right now due to the deca my shoulder feels like a million bucks now
I have a bro use left side is ridicolously out of portion to his right. And i mean chest, shoulders and arms. Looks like his left side always haves "that pump" after a work out and his right is normal. Im guessing its genetics.....
Its genetics but it could also be poor stretching or poor ligaments. If you lack the motion then your body is going to use a path that feels comfortable, not necesarally the path the other shoulder takes. Also. many upper body biases are due to shoulder issues. Warm up and stretch your shoulders routinly and vigorously. This will pay off in all upper body movements...
My left pec was bigger than my right also, I believe mine was from being a pitcher all the way into college. Now that I am done it seems to have grown a bit.
I have that genetic problem in a little degree. My right pec is a little bit smaller and a little bit different in shape. I thought it was because of too much masturbation...
sometimes when pressing a lifter will unknowingly drop one elbow down. So looking at someone benching from the top, one elbow would be at oh say 55 degrees out and one will be almost into their side say 10 degrees out. the side at 10 degrees is getting more delt/tri than pec. (think close grips) So the pec falls behind do to lack of stimulation.
lessen weght until you master your form and allow the weaker side to catch up. then slowly increase your weight from there. Too many people are too concerned about Joe blow next to them thinking they are weak so they lift too much weight and lose proper form leading to uneven muscles. Check your ego at the door, be in competition with nobody but yourself and master the lighter weights before you move on.
Have the same problem left pec bigger ,It also pumps up better than the right ,When doing barbell inclines or flat benchs ,I have switched to to heavy dumbell benchs and this has made a world off difference.
Hate to dig a thread up, but its the first one I found on the search regarding pectoral imbalance... I hear about this all the time, hundreds of answers are given and are then all shot down, so is there an answer? Im right handed, so my right arm is stronger, so when working my chest out, the arm does the work and not so much the right pec, but because my left arm is weaker the left pec has to do more work, is this correct? people have said to just work out the smaller peck harder and for longer, but in turn wont this make my right arm even more stronger than the left creating even more imbalance? I am constnatly checking on my form and it seems to be fine, but im just certain that because my left arm is weak the pec has more work to do than the right. Im assuming that a logical answer would be to work my whole left arm more than usual so it can build strength, then no one peck will have to work more than the other?
I have heard all kinda of rediculous things like the left pec is built differently and placed on the chest higher up because it protects the heart, and ive also heard some crap about boys having one more rib than girls which somehow makes the left pec bigger :S Hopefully someone on this forum has a good method.
^^^^ in the future just start up a new thread instead of digging up old ones as half the guys in this thread are banned/dead/no longer here...
as you get older and keep working out you will notice less and less of a difference. when i started pumping iron in my teens i would notice my left trap was way bigger. now as i've hammered away for years and years its evened out. will it ever be the exact same size as the other? probably not, but its not noticeable the way it was when i was 17.
