Old school marriages vs New aged marriages

I bet we all know people who got married because everybody expected them to. All their family, parents and friends just expected them to. But they were not even close to being soul mates they were just college sweet-hearts LOL

i'm a knucklehead. . .i don't think anyone ever expected me to get married.

The decline of marriage and the nuclear family happened long before the start of technology overload.

what is love? baby dont hurt me dont hurt me no more..

seriously though....love is a term that gets thrown around pretty easy nowadays.

My family did not expect me to get married cause I didnt like to share...silly them I married a girl much smarter than me ($$) :D

Then she taught me how not to be so damn selfish, now I just give everything away.

The idea of romantic love leading to marriage is only about 200 years old, at most. Probably more like 100ish years old.

Historically, today's style of marriage (i.e. 1950's-2000 model) will be a brief blip on history at best.

2000? LOL try 1950-1980

I was trying to be generous with the dates. Technically it all fell apart about when our commander in chief was getting screwing Jennifer, getting blowjobs from Monica and pulling out his dick to Paula and the soccer mom's couldn't have loved him more. That pretty much sealed the tomb on contemporary marriage.

^^^ What he said.

Not to mention the fact that many many women didn't have the option of divorce back in the day regardless of how much the marriage sucked.

Divorce is actually a good thing in many circumstances.

Bottom line is new age/old school matters not. What matters is the morals and ethics of the two involved in the marriage. There is nothing that could penetrate the fortress that a couple creates when they commit to each other with marriage, that is unless one or both ALLOWS it. But even then if the foundation is solid the fortress can be repaired/rebuilt better and stronger than ever before. But only if BOTH want it badly enough.

There is no such thing as impossible, but rather only that which we CHOOSE not to do. :)

Yea I couldn't agree more. I have a personal example of it regarding the loyalty aspect

There was a girl who worked upstairs as a Nurse assistant who pursued me for months. I mean she was so persistent, I finally had to tell her that I would have to ask my wife about going to a place with another woman for drinks. I asked her how she thought such a conversation would end. I finally told her that it was never gonna be a good idea regardless of the fact that she made it sound like it was just for drinks.

She wasn't a bad looking girl either and if I was single, I would pursued but I would never cheat on my wife.

I have cheated on someone (who ended up being my wife though) and I hated how much I hurt the other girl and vowed I would never do that again
