No deadlifting in the power room?

i personally dont give a shit what they think at my gyms. they can cancel me if they want. for some reason they dont have a problem with what i do though. they even let me use their kitchen. once in a while i ruin something. its not intentional it just happens. but if they bitched i would tell them to upgrade their shit or kick me out. no attitude i just dont see the whole opening a gym and expecting everyones top priority to be keeping their equipment like new idea. my mind is a little to focused on what im doing there to wonder if this snatch is going to bend the bar. if you open a gym with middle of the road equipment you have to expect a few strong guys to join and break your shit.

ha this is funny and you have a good point. Lots of big guys get preferential treatment, lower rates, etc and they are the ones that cause the most wear and tear on equipment. Ironic if you think about it.

Why noy just respect the man. "I've been a strength and conditioning coach here for 10 years. I've had enough experience to know this isn't proper deadlifting equipment." dudes been there 10 years. if he says your fucking shit up, chances are you where fucking shit up. just saying.

LMAO! You are joking right? The vast majority of trainers think they know everything, when in realist they know sweet fuck all.

i wish i could take that attitude with my gym, people bitch at my if i put the double D-handle over the pullup bar to do neutral grip chins, they say it scratched the paint on the pullup bar. They do let me keep their shakes in the fridge behind the counter though...

No the vast majority of people think they know everything, when in reality..............well you know the rest. Again I stand by my statement. Its a rec center, dude has been there 10 years, probably helped alot of people in those 10 years, so if he said dude was fucking shit up. My money says he was fucking shit up.

My money is on this: He's been there for 10 years..he knows very little, has made no progress, and is unhappy with the way his life has turned out, but he's one of those turds who likes to give unsolicited advice. Strong guys make him feel inadequate as a man, so he does what he can to exert some kind of "authority" over them.
These guys are in nearly every gym. These guys suck.

That sounds about right. lol

Wow DJECLIPSE did you really give me negative Karma for saying that maybe this 10 year vet of the rec center had a point in saying that dude was fucking shit up? REALLY WAS THAT REALLY NECESARY??????????????????????

Well to update I had a meeting with him and their top personal trainer. I demonstrated that deadlifting 135 makes the same noise as doing 800, because the bumper plates are a little bit taller than the regular plates, so they touch the ground first. They have these platforms that you hook onto the squat rack that you're supposed to deadlift on, but even the way he showed me how to use it, the plates rest a good 6 inches above ground level, so you end up with 6 inches range of motion. During the meeting he brought a 35 lb dumbbell that had the rubber coating messed up on it to show me that this is what they deal with all the time, as if I was throwing weights around.

Anyway, I decided that it wasn't worth it to keep deadlifting there if they're going to be nancy boys about it. I even suggested it would be cool to have a power clean/snatch/deadlift room, but they said there was no place they could add that.

What's funny is that during the meeting, the guy confessed to me that he had only been a strength coach for one year, not 10. He actually admitted that he just said that to get me to comply and not deadlift.

We don't go into Branch Warren mode when we lift, we respect others during our lifts, and yet now I feel like I can't deadlift as to not anger somebody. Time to go to the local gym where they're cool with it. It's ridiculous that people that make a career out of this and have prestigious positions at their gyms often seem like they have 1/100th of the knowledge that people here at EF do.
