I've been going to the gym for a while now without much of a plan, just kinda winging it. So today at work, I sat down and thought up a good 5 day routine.

How's this look?

day 1 :: Delts / Chest / tris

5x5 standing military press
2x8 seated db press
2x8 face pulls or reverse pec dec
3x8 db shrugs

3x8 flat bench
3x8-10 dips

3x8 skulls

day 2 :: Back / Legs / Bis

5x5 deadlifts
2x8 pullups
2x8 bb rows

2or3x8 front squats
2x8 sldl

3x8 bb curl
3x8 standing db curl

day 3 :: Chest / delts

5x5 flat bench
2x8 incline db
2x8 dips

3x8 seated miltary press
3x8 upright rows

day 4 :: Legs / Back
5x5 squats
2x8 sldl
2x8 leg press
4x10-15 calf raises

3x8 bb row
3x8 pull ups

day 5 :: Arms
5x5 cg press
2x8 dips
2x8 skulls

5x5 standing bb curl
2x8 seated db curl
2x8 preacher curl

the only thing id recommend is doing arnold or db shoulder presses, standing presses and seated military presses are alot alike i personally like to use both.
also when are your off days? it is a different looking 5x5 from what i normally see but you know your body better than i do.

personally i wouldn't do legs on back day and i wouldn't do back on leg day, i need alot of rest between the two myself. I would also take out all the seperate arm stuff you do on day one and two, and just put them in on your arm day. Also i would probably take out the flat bench on day one and just save your energy for when you do it with 5x5 on day 3. But thats just me and if this is what works for you then all the power to yah

I've been doing one body part per week since I've started weight training. I figured I'd still basically focus on one body part a day, but chuck in a few extra exercises at the end to try and get a little extra volume in the week, for chest delts and tris mainly. I think I will just do back and legs once a week now, since I talk much longer to recover with those.

I'm 20 years old, bout 6'0, 180lbs, probably 9-10% bodyfat

My diet has really been pretty terrible, so I'm looking to eat alot more and try to put on some decent mass in the next 6 months or so. I always love getting stronger too, and from what I've reading, 5x5 seems to be good for both.

for a bad diet your pretty lean which is good..throw in a lot of good clean food but dont be afraid to eat some junk once in awhile..

as far as your routine stick with a stricter 5x5..I know madcow has been posting a lot on this subject he has put some links in another thread for a 5x5 routine by Bill Star..

If youre going to use the 5x5 many here have used you wont need the extra volume

There are 3 links at the bottom that will be very helpful if you are interested in learning about training and setting up a program.

You can read my thoughts on the version of the 5x5 program you are using. Although they carry the same name the Bill Starr version is very different (it has been famously associated with the name 5x5 for 30 years now). I arranged one for a bodybuilder at Fortidied Iron a while back. It is linked also. Regardless of what you do, reading the Tribute to Johnsmith182 thread is a must. Likely the best 20 minutes you will ever spend with regards to training. Skip a day at the gym if you have to, you will be paid back 100 fold in knowledge and future progress.
