Nelson Montana, Supplement Pimp?

I'm not sure who approached who but Nelson has been a strong advocate of the ingredients in the products The Protein Factory makes and sells long before it was introduced in product form. I used to give Nelson a lot of shit about promoting his book but the more I get to know the guy I think the financial interest with Nelson is secondary. I believe Nelson truly loves the vocation he's in and really wants to help people above the money aspect. If he can make a living doing what he loves to do and helps people in the process then more power to him. It's not easy making a buck in the supplement world. It's a highly competitive industry and barriers to entry are strong.

I agree, if you truly believe that a product is good, promote it.

Nelson - - Quick question. Are you involved with the supplements at PF in any way at all? Meaning are they yours? Do you profit off of their sale in anyway? Do have any rights to them at all?

Actually, it's a pretty informal arrangment. Alex and I worked out some compensation (mostly in supplements) for my involvement in developing the formulas and providing techinal assistance and advice along the way. But it's their baby. In return for my endorsement of the line we do have an agreement that the formulas will not be changed or sold to another company without my expressed consent. That's about it.

OK, cool I was just wondering. Wow, so you developed the formulas gave them assistance, and then agrees to endorse them. Nice that they cant sell them to anyone w/o your consent.

No offsense Nelson but I don't understand the business logic behind that. You develop the formulas, advise them on how to put it together and endorse the product line and you get free supplements in return??? The scale seems rather unbalanced imo. You should at least get a percentage on the gross revenue and partial ownership in the company. That's usually how that works. Most of their sales are be driven by your endorsement. I would re-negotiate your arrangement with them if I were you.

Since I would use the products and since I buy protein every month, it works in both our favor if we use the barter system. Protein factory isn't a huge coorporation. They're essentially a Ma and Pa company. Maybe if things work out we'll do more business in the fututre. Who knows? We'll see.
