This is Chat and Conversation, which implies someone might discuss that which is being chatted about. They might also expect the discussion to go 2 ways, because one sided conversations are boring. Bombing someone is a pussy way of disagreeing with them, but admitting you don't have anything worthwhile to add.
P.S. I didn't mean it as a joke. It was a serious analogy to what I have observed. I may be uninformed to the back story, but I have not observed any of that.
