That's just it, you are the pack leader. Remember you have a animal, and you are the leader of this animal. If you ever watch TV The Dog Whisperer, he trains the people and not the animal. Your pet is acting out in a normal way. But you have to train them, and it takes work, to change them. Work with you pet. Be strong with your voice but do not yell. Tug at the leash when they do something but don't break their neck. Point at them, let them know you mean their acting bad. Have someone else there with you and help. Correcting a pet is easy and repetitive. But eventually they get it. About the nipping, start to pet them. And when they nip, say one word, "no" sternly and ignore. First make them sit, then ignore, sorry about that. Give it some time, and try again. One thing is do not use beating.
