NBA and Juice.....

It comes down to this - professional sports are a business, every athlete admits this. So in essence, you're competing with EVERYONE in your sport to get that contract, even your teammates. If your competitor is using roids, he is now a greater threat to your security in the business. Two options, a) hope you can get by with talent alone (not possible for many), b) take your talent to the next level and be better than your competitors. It's an easy choice - with proper care, steroids will not harm you, they will only make you a better player. I don't blame any of these guys for using. It's come to the point where if you want to play, you've got to be the best. If someone else is the best, no one will care about you.

Forget major league baseball, I'll bet 2x as many NBA chumos are on the sauce than MLB....

I just ran into Lebron at the gym (grew up with him, not a big deal anymore...) and asked him about his training (dude is fing jacked now for a 20 year old, esp. at 6'8) he said nothing about sauce (of course) but hat his diet is garbage (due to traveling) and is only hitting the gym to lift 1-2 a week.....something aint right. Sure he's active as hell and plays bball all day, but still.........

I don't understand Lebron going to a local gym every player in the NBA works out at the teams facility not the local gyms that would just be retarded they would never be able to get in a workout with all the fans all over him.

But you are right those dudes are huge as hell Ben Wallace works out in my basement and that dude is scary!!

Well then what ratio do you think would be more accurate? You don't think I can find a hundred NBA players, or soccer players, or hockey players that aren't juicing? You can't be serious.

You said 100 players who aren't juicing for every one that is. That's a lot different than finding 100 guys who don't juice. Stick to one story.

Agreed

I'd be cool if there was a 100% reliable test to see if you have EVER used. I wonder how many pro would be show to never have used? Once you use, you owe a lot of your build to it. Just look at Bill Philips, he owes his build to juice, but now sells snake oil....

nfl = 80% if not more
mlb = i'd say like 40-60%
nba = 20-35% maybe more
nhl = tough to say 30-40%

just rough estimates, pros take a lot other "drugs" , baseball, all of them take speed.

Now I gotta read a book to chime in on this thread! LOL! Yeah I'll go do that right now.

I agree that there are a lot of athletes on the sauce because of the pressure of being the best they can, but I bet for every 1 thats on something there are 100 that aren't. In High school I'd say a 1/1000 ratio easy. I was a pole vaulter in High school, went to state a couple of times, and in four years of competition I knew of ONE guy who juiced, and damn if he didn't beat me every fuckin time. I totally agree with you guys on the fact that there are a lot of athletes that take steroids, but you have to give credit to the ones that don't and didn't. You can't just make a broad statement like "Most professional athletes are juicing."

that means if your school has 2000 students, only 2 of them take steroids, LOL
I bet I could find 10-30, just on the football team that take something.

i wished i knew more when I was in HS, i'd be on the sauce too ;)

let me tell you something about lebron's workouts, the guy works out for about 6 hours 3 on the court 3 cardio and weight room. you should have watched the life on espn with him if you are that interested. he weighed 240 at the age of 17, he was given a mill from the insurance company before he even started the nba and was tested my friend. also he takes about 1000 shots every day on the court. paul silas still admits he has never seen anyone workout as long as lebron at such a young age. so i doubt he's pullin off canseco workouts

Did you miss my initial post that said I grew up with him playing AA youth bball. Now see him at the gym 1-2x a week.....trust me, he does not w/o for 6 hours a day......sure he's active, he bikes a ton and probably plays ball 1-2 hours/day.....all jumpers, free throws, etc with two coaches rebounding for him...he's got a great work ethic, but incredible genes.

ok, enlighten me, what book would instruct me or inform me on how to use steroids to increase my endurance. I don't want to come off as a smart ass. I understand testosterone is, in part, why male endurance runners are faster than female endurance.

Wow, a lot of different arguments here......with most that could never be solved..... Personally, I thought Sammy Sosa looked 10 times smaller and I even commented that to my wife this week while playing the Detroit Tigers. I also thought that Ben Wallace looks very skinny compared with other big men in the league---his biceps are tiny for a big man. Also, I thought both SERENA and VENUS Williams gained like 50 pounds of muscle from their rookie season on tour to their third season...Didn't Serena used to be fat????----just my opinion....not an expert by any stretch......

BUT, Aren't the best players ever in every sport all been STEROID free, just a point, but I am from Detroit and in hockeytown, I am a huge hockey fan, and WAYNE GRETZKY, STEVE YZERMAN, MARIO LEMIEUX, ALL THE GREATS all have never touched anything, MICHAEL JORDAN, JOE MONTANA, DAN MARINO, ALEX RODRIGUEZ, NOLAN RYAN, BABE RUTH, LARRY BIRD, On and ON, are all Non Enhanced....... Do I have a point at all here??? Probably not, but I thought I would chime in real quick.......
