My Front Squat Form- Is It REALLY That Bad???

When I do Front Squats, which is frequently, to keep my body upright, I have to use a wider stance with my feet anlgled to the sides. I use a bodybuilding style grip on the bar and can get pretty low. My stance is similar to a sumo-squat stance, but legs are closer. I've tried using a narrow stance, but I lean forward too much on the descent. Maybe, it's because of my height(6'4"), lack of flexibility, or both. Is there anything wrong with the way I'm doing them???

I'm 6'3" and I do them the same way you do. Mostly because if I did them narrow my patella would snap and shoot across the room (surgery in december la;kfj;dafk)

No your form isnt necessarily bad. The only bad form is one that conflicts with your goals or causes you injury.

So if your working on devloping your quads for a contest. Then yes your form isnt too hot, it could be better.

If youre working on your competition squat, but find your sticking point is 1/2 between compelition and parallel then your using a front loaded squat properly.

Depending on where your weaknesses are athletically it may not be too bad either. But generally speaking there arent many sports that require you to be active in a sumo squat stance. A shoulder width stance is considered more athletic, and you should probably bring in your stance a little if your training for any sort of sport.

i tend to do them with a wide stance and toes angled out as well..i have no problems going atf..my reg squat i have been concentrating on a wide stance soobviously getting atf is impossible by i do make sure i am breaking parallel..
i.e the crease in my hip gets below my knee

maybe you should use with elevated heels? i personally use these slip on dress type shoes with the rear heel elevated with allows me to go as deep as possible with my back as upright and straight as possible. when i get money i'm gonna invest in some oly shoes, until then the dress shoes will work. even if i get some funny looks at the gym. haha.

I feel much better with a stance like yours...I'm 6'2" and feel much more natural and safer that way.

I do Front Squats solely for quad development. I keep constant tension on them by not locking out at the top. Couple that with the slight sumo stance, my inner quads are on BOOMING.

Then life is good, your stance is working for your goals.
