MY Doc scared the SH*T out of me today.

Conversion of mmol/L to ng/dl involves multiplying (or dividing) by a factor dependent entirely on the substance involved. For cholesterol the factor is 39.

To convert mmol/L of HDL or LDL to mg/dl, multiply by 39.

I've tried var two or three times. I always start to feel kind of crap in short order and have had about 60 10mg tablets sitting around for six months or so wondering whether I'll ever use them or chuck them. Tbol gets to me, too.

Is it feasible that one is sensitive to screwed up cholesterol values?

I remember reading a study about Cholesterol lowering drugs and depression, and there's apparantly a link between lowered HDL levels and depression. that may be why you feel like shit

HDL, Depression, and Suicidality: Is There a Link?
Some studies have reported low serum cholesterol levels in patients with mood disorders and suicidality, and primary prevention trials designed to lower serum cholesterol have reported increased deaths due to suicide. This study examined the relation among serum lipids, immune response, depression and suicidality, and whether antidepressants alter these relations.
Researchers examined 36 men with major depression before and after five weeks of treatment with trazodone (alone or combined with other antidepressants) and compared them with 28 controls. Patients with major depression had significantly lower serum levels of HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) and total cholesterol than controls, unrelated to melancholia, anorexia, or weight loss. Significantly more depressed patients than controls had HDL-C levels below 35 mg dl-1 (38% vs. 0%), and these lower levels are regarded as significant cardiovascular risk factors. HDL-C levels (but not total cholesterol levels) were significantly lower in patients who had ever attempted suicide than in patients who had not. Five weeks of antidepressant treatment had no effect on lipid levels, regardless of treatment response. HDL-C levels were negatively correlated with CD4+/CD8+ T-cell ratio.

Comment: Low levels of HDL-C may not only contribute to cardiovascular risk in depressed patients but also to the depression itself: reduced cholesterol levels may lead to decreased 5-HT uptake from the blood resulting in lower levels in the brain. The authors believe that the findings do not simply represent an indicator of stress response, because most psychological stress results in increased rather than decreased serum cholesterol. The changes in lipids, T-cells, and other markers are consistent with changes in immune or acute phase response thought to contribute to depression.

This is why Var lost alot of its' popularity with Men in the mid 90's..... It was a favorite oral for many guys back then, but then guys started reporting screwed up Lipid profiles.... On this very board to be exact..... Personally I avoid orals if possible, they just aren't worth it IMO.... The only exceptions are Proviron, and Dbol since it's such a great Mass builder..... However, with Anavar, you can get similar effects with MANY injectable drugs, so why use it? I never understood its' "comeback" after the year 2000.... I guess more guys are afraid of injecting or something? I don't get it....

This is an obvious reason why careless kids cannot be taking shit the way they are without advice and blood work. As much as everyone likes to believe that AAS has not effected their health, let's say you had the stroke and became paralyzed or worse... And think if you didnt go get the blood work done and just thought "Nothing will ever happen to me" like most kids do. And theres NO way that you were a stroke candidate before juicin either and if so your diet for the last half decade had to consist of ice cream, doughnuts, pizza, and fried foods with no exercise. But as you said you did cardiovascular exercises. Bottom line, in some cases AAS can be detrimental to your health especially with out regular blood work. Good post man, good luck and get healthy!

Only a few days untill your fight. Isn't casamayor fighting the headliner on espn2?

this is exactly the reason I limit (when I do use var which is not often) my use to 4 weeks. even in that amount of time it knocks my HDL from a normal of 82 (I am very lucky here) to 26. And by the way, the negative effects on lipid levels are not dose dependent. 40mg PD are just as bad as 100
