It's a baby.
I chased my cat under the back cement balcony with this mouse in it's mouth and hit my head on the cement. My head is bleeding pretty bad..ugh!
What do I do with this mouse. I dont want to throw it back outside in the cold
And please don't suggest to kill it.
What do I do?

let it go. It is a disgusting vermin

seriously, let it go. Will it find it's mother? It's winter and cold out there?!
I have no clue where my cat found it. My yard is filled with snow and my cat only goes under my back balcony.

it could have rabies, so I wouldnt be holding it.. flush it down the toilet and it can live in the sewer

Bring ur cat inside for about an hour and put the little fuzzy under the balcony. Keep ur cat in for a little while so it has time to get back to mother.

sell it to your local pharmaceutical research company???

j/k........feed it sweetie, than let it go. Your cat caught it outside right? That means these things can live outside. Probably popped out for a bit of fresh air from underneath your house, and your ole johnny on the spot kitty was there to grab it. So yeah, wait till all your cats are accounted for inside, than let it loose.

ok, I will let it out back under the balcony. I'll keep my cats in until tomorrow.
I just hope it finds it mom. I would hate to think it's lost and starves to death

Now I have to make my head stop bleeding

Thanks all, cept JS who is meaner than a junk yard dog ;p

dont deny the circle of life.

but if you have a special place in your heart for this particular mouse, a glass tank with a wheel and some woodchippings, a waterdish and some rabbitfood will work

I don't want to keep it as a pet. It's wild and I have 3 cats that will use all their power to kill it

:heks:

My solution was perfect. It would have allowed nature to do it's thing from a food chain standpoint.

It will be ok, prolly. It looks like a teenager(hopper).
If u found a pinky(newborn) or a fuzzy(baby) it might have a problem. This one was prolly sneaking out if it still hangs out with mom at all.

I just read up on what to do if u find a baby mouse and you know all the terms. You're a pro. I believe you and I am letting it out now

thanks.....I won't be worried now.

Thanx. I try to be good for something. :)

you would be inflicting psychological torture on your cats if you kept it in the house. I remember my family's bird cage growing up....two finch's. Our siamese literallly fixated on the cage for hours on end. I think they finally got to it if I remember correctly.

opened up the plastic container I put it in and zooooooooom. It took off at 100 mph under the balcony
Can you tell I'm a city girl and never see mice.

I'm a city girl,2. I just learned a ton about animals because I thought I wanted to be a vet....B4 I worked for a vet. It was WAY 2sad for me. I helped with the zoo and a few animal protection groups while in school. I was a bearded dragon breeder,2. It was good tymes. Before I was a paramedic I had time for all kinds of cool stuff. O-well. :)
I'm sure the lil' hopper will do fine.

do you regret not being a vet?

The money would be nice but I still think it would have made me 2sad. Seriously, it was sad. 2many animals die because of human stupidity. Being a paramedic can also be sad but I don't deal with many innocent victims. The innocent ones make me sad(kids, people killed by drunk drivers...). I had to see more innocent animals die in one year(FROM HUMAN STUPIDITY) more than all of my years being a paramedic. Most of the people I deal with cause their own deaths. The animals were innocent. It was really sad. Puppies with parvo = GREAT EXAMPLE. It takes an easy/cheap shot to prevent. People wouldn't bring puppies in for shots until they were already half dead from parvo. At that point, it's hard to save them and they have a painful death. Sad. I had to quit working there. I was getting 2pissed at humans.

you know what, this was the same reason I could not be a vet. As much as I love animals, I would lose it seeing them in pain or harms way

You're a good soul :-)

That thing likely has diseases which effect humans.

I hope you washed your hands.

UGH...you let it go and it will crawl back under your house. You know those things carry diseases. I couldn't kill the little thing either, though. Hell, I don't know.

I have had many cats and they all have brought in a mouse or a bird one time or another. The only thing is my cats actually killed them. Your cat is a pussy... no pun intended.

Your cat was just fulfilling his or her part of the human-feline contract. We give them comfort, they keep our grain stores free of vermin. You have interfered with that. For shame.

Wuss.

I had a mouse problem last spring after they dug into my garage and found their way into the house.

Hysterical watching the boys chase mice and barrel through the couch to get to them.

My airsoft pistol has killed more mice than Ted Kennedy's car.

Not all living things should be left alive. Take Lestat for example. :qt:

Yes, I washed them about 10 times. I'm also on tons of antibiotics so not that worried.

My young kitten has killed birds and tore them in a million, I freaked.
This cat who got the mouse is very gentle. When he goes to bite you to play, it's like he nibbles.
He's a good boy
When I saw it in his mouth, I yelled "drop it" and he did

I have no grain stores so I'm not worried

My cats are trained not to attack birds. These cats (cept my kitten) will sit on the back balcony in the summer just looking at the birds and will not attack them.
I don't need my cats to get sick or bring sick home because of thier instinct, so I trained them to go against their instinct.

Yes, all things should be left alive. Now not all humans should be

Nature knows more than some cockamamie religion. Cats are carnivores, they eat meat, and that's pretty much all they should eat. Meat comes from animals that have been killed.

Predators cull out the weak and slow prey animals, it's good for both species.

Yeah sweetie, they're house cats. They eat out of a can. If they were lions, I would not have stopped them

It's nature for humans to do the same, but we're civil now and don't kill the weak

;-)

Killing pest is part of the benefit package that comes with a cat. They are not civilized, tamed, or domesticated, they're just acclimated to accept humans (if they're raised to be). Taking the mouse away from the cat is cruel, poor animal is probably frustrated now.

Oh, and he steals your breath while you sleep.

If you're wondering about the image edits -- we got people who are trying to eat some really big meals here, y'know? So show a little consideration. Kthxbye.
