When i was attending college my gf at the time gave me a kitten and i have had her since 2001. In those short few yrs she has had kidney failure twice..once when she was 2 which cost me 2grand to get her well again and the second time in april of 05 which cost me 2,500 It wasnt about the money it was about doing everything i could to keep her healthy and happy. The past wk i noticed the symptoms again and when i came home from work on saturday she was in a siezure..needless to say she wouldnt stop so i took her the the kitty ER and they decided to go ahead and put her down. :( I was there thru the whole thing and after she passed i held her and cried telling her i hoped that she understood..i know she is in a better place and she isnt suffering anymore but its so hard to know that her last moments were painful..they made me a mold of her paw print and besides pics thats all i have of her now. I know some are saying get over it "its just a cat!" but those who own or love animals you guys/gals know what i am talking about..i will miss her R.I.P Winny 1/7/2006

fogg88 has a kitten he's trying to get rid of

So sorry to hear that -- I guess especially when there are health issues it is just brutal to watch a tiny little body like that take the beating and its even more heart-wrenching when its just "that time".

Hopefully I won't turn into the weird old lady w/ the cats, but my family has always had at least 2 cats in the house along w/ 2 very long lived dogs & a couple of kids. I've had my tubbo little boy w/ me since the week after Hurricane Andrew hit. They become a part of your life and you can't avoid the feelings.

Condolences to you and I guess the memories are the important things.

Sorry to hear that bro. I know how you feel. Mine are like my children to me. I've had to bury 2 before and it's no fun. Good to see you've got a big heart for animals. I'm sure she had a good life while she was w/ you. That's more than alot of cats get ever.

She says while the avatar is giving you the finger.

That is sad. I only had one pet in my life and it died on me too. Never again.

I am so sorry and know it is hard. I have always had cats in my lifetime and have lost several, but my cat 'Littles' who I have posted about before has been with me these last 17yrs, through all the best and worst times of my life. She knows when I am talking to her and makes me laugh when she is being silly. She comforts me each night when she climbs up (her little steps now because she is old) into bed and puts her front paws on my right leg and curls up in my legs to sleep.

She has kidney failure as your cat did. I remember when she was diagnosed over 3 years ago. I started giving her 100cc of lactated ringers under her skin at the scruff every day then up'd it to 150cc every other day all this time. Her quality of life is amazing. The kidneys use the body as a filter and the ringers flush her kidneys. Crazy, but it works and its cheap too.

I know what you must be feeling and wonder when the day will come when I won't feel her little paws on my leg each night and will I be able to go to sleep. My thoughts are with you. Take care.

And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.

Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.

But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

I lost a cat before too. It's been awhile tho.

it's especially sad as she suffered
you know they have no concept of the source of the pain,or why

My buddy's gonna get some extra hugs when he comes back in from his nightly murderous rampage.

That poem made me cry.......I'm very sensitive to loss of pets - they're like a child that never grows up. I've seen "the rainbow bridge" but it seems that applies more to dogs.
