Post your opinion of the most underrated IYO...

Everlast is my #1...multiple genres over decades...
House of pain...

I know someone is going to post Eminem.....:)

haha seriously though, if we are omitting multi-platinum selling artists who have won grammys like everlast...

crystal castles (not really anymore), aeroplane, the pack, nothingface, nightmare of you, rogue wave, XV, 80kidz

fudge tunnel, lou reed, animals and most notably ROGER WATERS.

i always thought roger waters got a lot more accolades and credit than he deserved..i mean..

..please...i remember people making a big deal out of that album and that song, and i thought it sucked donkey dick :whatever:

michael jackson
metallica

underrated?? this year, on the anniversary WEEK of his death, they made it seem like he gave birth to the baby jesus or something.

he grabbed his crotch a lot..and a lot of his music sounded the same to me..oh and, there's a good chance that he molested children..'nuff said??

dam digi............

if he wasn't hideous and media friendly and not such an impossibly aragant
asshole, he would've been a mega super star.

based on his merits alone, he is in the league with dylan , hendrix
he is one of the most gifted lyricist ever and his creative genius is
unparalleled.

even if he were handsome and nice, his music is cynical and dark.
he is more talented than mc cartney but no where near as
marketable. btw, we saw paul in atlanta and he was incredible.
going to see roger in november.

i just remember being really pissed that he couldn't seem to get along with david gilmour and fucking up all the pink floyd fun and then that goddamn pro's and con's of hitch-hiking playing relentlessly on wdve in pittsburgh when i was like a sophomore in college and i just thought the song friggin SUCKED! :FRlol:

different strokes for different folks, i suppose :whatever:

wanna talk "underrated"...how about neal schon?? the guy is an unbelievable guitar player and musician...was hired to play guitar by carlos santana at age 15...but spent most of his career quietly toiling away, playing cheesy pop music with journey.

or steve stevens?? another incredibly gifted guitarist and musician who spent most of his career playing behind billy idol.

agreed.

btw i think the animals were highly underrated. ( i don't think underrated = obscure ) when you listen to their stuff contextually, they were 10 yrs
ahead of their time and extremely talented. i believe they were consumed
during beatlmania.

It's a trick question!

How could they be the *most* underrated and still be given props even on a musclehead board? Wouldn't that alone make them a tiny bit rated?

a mediocre band that isn't given any props is still less underrated than an amazing band that is given only a little bit of props. so being a tiny bit rated doesn't necessarily preclude a band from being the most underrated

Winning a music award and selling platinum albums are irrelevant when it comes to talent and the quality of music produced...

Milli Vanilli...Spice Girls...BackDoor Boys...etc...

I'm asking about artists that aren't given proper kudos by the drunk ass sorority chick at a party and have "matured" over decades. :)

when a reporter asked Bob Dylan how he dealt with negative criticism concerning
his music, he said, " The music industry is geared to sell records to 14 year old
girls. I don't really care what the critics say."

when i was a kid, i would ask a potential girlfriend what she thought of Elvis and
Dylan. if she had anything negative to say about either of them, it was over before it got started.:coffee:

I put my swords in the ground a decade ago...

Some people don't understand a choice versus public relations...

i've seen him 3 times and if you don't know and understand
him, you would interpret his performance as dissociative and
flat. you might even say he sucks lol! his aloof presentation
and sometimes mumbling dialogue between numbers is a
little off- putting, even to hard core fans. it aint no kiss
concert.

shit, hendrix was booed off stage once. he was opening for
the monkeys and the audience was a 1967 version of a
jonas brothers audience. it's all 'bout context i reckon.

omg...couldn't have said it better myself...when he's got a burr in his saddle about something he's downright unintelligble and he plays some songs so fast that they barely resemble the original studio version...he's truly a chameleon and very much affected by current state of world affairs...quite a character.

yeah but you gotta love him.

he seemed happy when he performed with the traveling wilburys.

he seems happier whe he's running circles around an idiot interviewer.

Lawton is Lawton for a reason...the same reason my black, hispanic and white friends all chipped in with me for a rental car that would take us to the first major city at least 100 miles from our duty station. :)

Cornell is good, but I think he's underated because of the people he surounded himself with..
He should of hooked up with EVH and been a star with that kinda voice...

he's made a number of top 50 voices of all times lists...that's pretty impressive, considering that some of the other people on the list have names like domingo, carreras and pavarotti. :)

But how many teen girls have him on their ipod? Justin Beber > than everyone in your post. :)

LOL...check out your daughter's ipods. :)

I know a local NW Ohio artist that sings a "spot on" cover of "Me and Bobby McGee" but she's old, a few years younger than me, and her voice kicks Bowersox ass.

This is good but I've heard better. :)

I put the music on my daughter's ipods...thank you very much...when they want more music, they come to me with their lists and i put it on for them...and, yes, they have some hannah montana and justin beiber and selena gomez and demi lavato and...awww, jeezuz, you get the picture...but they also have soundgarden (chris cornell) and neil young and john denver and jewel and the police and tristan prettyman and ani difranco and pink and bon jovi and bryan adams and indigo girls and...well...you get the picture...i like their musical tastes to be well rounded. after they grew out of the sesame street phase, i introduced them to "my" music and they kinda took to it...i "filter" the stuff for content before i put it on their mp3 players though...they're still pretty young for some of the racier stuff, and i also try to weed out the stuff with a bunch of cuss words...gotta be a little "parental" :)

my one daughter and i have been taking guitar lessons for almost two years now...she's gotten really good, and she has an amazing voice...she's played a couple of parties and a couple of open mike nights this summer and she was unbelievable...no nervousness or hesitation what-so-ever...and she's only 10. my other daughter has taken up the violin...she's only been taking lessons and playing since february and she's already got 20 or so songs/pieces/whatever-the-heck-you-call-them-when-it's-played-on-a-violin under her belt and she's learned to read music well enough that she brings home music/hymns from church and teaches herself how to play them...she's only 10 too.

do i sound a little proud?? LOL :)

Brother, at least you're country, I don't envy any man that has to deal with a daughter. There is something about a "daddy's girl" that wants you to give them a pass on everything. My nephew's daughter is dating a boy and she knows uncle Brian is cool as hell but the boy will meet her father and myself while we clean our guns and discuss our philosophy on how you treat a wiminz. :)

You didn't post it but I hope you make them listen to a little Johny Cash....

of course i do! and loretta lynn and tammy wynette and conway twitty and...well, you get the picture...some of it is stuff that i don't necessarily listen too, but it's a different musical point of view and i don't want them to be limited to any one genre.

with regard to the "boy" thing...i think i'll do what charles barkley says..."kill the first one and hope the word gets out" :lmao:

My daughter had her first little boyfriend at 14. I was so ready to intimidate the hell out of him too.

But one of my best friends is a mountain of a human being. He's only 5'10", but he's a very solid 335lbs (briefly played for the Chiefs) with tattoos all over (including a sleeve). He was with me when we met the boyfriend on our way home from the gym. The boyfriend couldn't stop looking at my friend instead of me (apparently I wasn't scaring him enough). But then it happened. My friend said: "Son, I see this girl like a daughter to me. Anything you do to her, I'm going to do to you.". It got out in the middle school the next day -- I didn't have another boyfriend issue for two years.
