Morgan Freeman: Black History Month is ridiculous.

REMEMBERING ROSA PARKS
Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr.
10/30/2005

Remarks at St. Paul A.M.E. Church
Birmingham, Alabama
Sunday, October 30, 2005

FOR OUR SISTER BELOVED ROSA, WE MUST ADORE, ADMIRE AND LOVE HER AND NOT ROMANTICIZE HER MISSION. HERS WAS AN ACT OF DEFIANCE, CHALLENGING THE PREVAILING RIGHT-WING POLITICAL, LEGAL AND RELIGIOUS ORDER. SHE CHALLENGED STATES RIGHTS UNARMED IN THE HEART OF THE CONFEDERACY.

HER MISSION WAS TO EVEN THE PLAYING FIELD, TO AFFORD ALL AMERICANS EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW, TO GAIN AND DEFEND CIVIL RIGHTS. SHE SOUGHT THE ONE BIG TENT AMERICA.

MANY OF HER FORMER ADVERSARIES HAVE CHANGED STRIPES OR PARTIES BUT NOT THEIR VIOLENT ANTI-CIVIL RIGHTS, ANTI-LABOR, ANTI-GENDER EQUALITY AND ANTI-POOR AGENDA.

TO BE ON HER FREEDOM TRAIN REQUIRES THE COURAGE AND THE VISION TO DEFY UNJUST LAWS, TO TAKE THE RISK AND LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES.

AFTER 58 YEARS OF LEGAL RACIST SEGREGATIONIST APARTHEID LAW, UPON CONTINUOUS CHALLENGES BY THE NAACP, LED BY THURGOOD MARSHALL, CONSTANCE BAKER MOTLEY, CHARLES HAMILTON HOUSTON, DR. JOHN HOPE FRANKLIN, DR. KENNETH CLARK, THE COURT REVERSED ITSELF FROM THE 1896 APARTHEID DECISION WHICH SUCCEEDED SLAVERY.

MAY 17, 1954, WAS THE BIGGEST VICTORY YET KNOWN SINCE THE ABOLISHMENT OF SLAVERY IN 1865. BUT IT HAD NO IMMEDIATE ON-THE-GROUND-EFFECT. STATES CONTINUED TO DEFY THE LAW AND VILIFY THE COURT AS LEGISLATING AND ENGINEERING CHANGE AND NOT BEING "STRICT CONSTRUCTIONISTS."

RACIAL SEGREGATION REMAINED IN OUR SCHOOLS, TRANSPORTATION, TRAINS, PUBLIC HOUSING, WORK PLACE, VOTING. WE LIVED WITHOUT THE UMBRELLA OF PROTECTION OF THE LAW.

EMMETT TILL WAS LYNCHED, AUGUST 28, 1955, (EIGHT YEARS TO THE DAY BEFORE THE 1963 MARCH ON WASHINGTON). THE LYNCH MOB WAS NOT PROSECUTED AND THE FBI DID NOT INVESTIGATE.

HIS MOTHER BROUGHT HIS BLOODIED, WATER MARKED BODY BACK TO CHICAGO. 100,000 PEOPLE DEMONSTRATED, PASSED HIS BODY.... AFTERWARDS THEY WERE NEVER THE SAME.

JET MAGAZINE AND THE BLACK PRESS TOLD HIS STORY. THERE WAS AN EMOTIONAL UP-RISING.

equal protection under the law , a decent place to sit??? This is a really racist man I'd have to say

He's just telling it like it is, much like Bill Cosby did. Look for Jesse fuckhead Jackson to raise an uproar.

Freemans a smart guy and a great actor for sure. If minorities and anyone else truly wanna change things in this country we need to stop seeing it all in colors and look at actions and attitudes to classify people. Being born black, white, yellow, red isn't a choice, but how you act and lead your life is.

ooh lord , we have another one here...

yeah, another one who wants to make sense instead of whining about exploitation.

do you want REAL change, or do you want to continue to have a reason to whine?

if you want to be a perpetual whiner, then JJ is your man. He'll always be around to toss a race card into anything.

if you want REAL change, then adopt the attitude that Bill Cosby or Morgan Freeman possess, one that says "we are people, period"

Jesse Jackson and Reverend Al have a vested interest in keeping racial tension to the forefront. Neither is racist in my opinion, just opportunists willing to sacrifice thier own mother if it would further thier political ambitions.

Bill Cosby and Morgan Freeman are both soft spoken, well-regarded intelligent men that will be called Uncle Toms by the Kanye Wests of the world.

Gjohnson, do you believe that Jesse Jackson actually thought that the execution of that murdering Crip this past week was racially motivated? I don't, but playing the race card got Jesse's face on TV again.

When you learn some words in the english language then maybe you'll understand.

Anyway I did just read his comments over the internet and as I said I'm not surprised. I have long said that "black" and "white" are colors not ethnicities. I'm not the one who popularized the use of those labels. But until "black' history is more incorporated into "American" history in terms of the amount of material taught in public shools, then Mr Freeman has no point.

Youve got to be kidding. With the raging political correctness that infested this countries educational system for the last 40 years, its hard to find public school districts that havent overemphasized black history.

The only point in debating with people who are ignorant is to shine light on them. Face it , you don't understand much of anything that you talk about. Google cannot help you in this one. You have to have a certain understanding before you can go on the internet and look for things. Face it, your understanding is 180 degrees off course....
Oh the irony. Face it, everyone here knows just how completely retarded you are.

Its really sad in this day and age to see someone still attempt to define themselves by the color of their skin. This type of attitude only leads to a live directed by an entitlement mentality...making excuses for all of your own failures in life, pinning the blame on whitey.

Its too bad more people cant live in the 21st century.

Jessie Jackson is not only racist he's also a bigot..... and there is a difference.

A racist is someone who believes that different races exist and that race does matter. A Bigot is some one who goes around spewing invectives.

"It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand" - racist and bigoted
"Afirmative Action" - racist but not bigoted

ANYTIME race is used as a criteria for anything it is racist. Simple as that. Black only scholarships? racist.

Rember the words of Martin Luther King - "I have a dream that one day all men will be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin."

Great post, but we all know it will fall on deaf ears.

Its funny how gjretard likes to bring up MLK often, yet continuously refuses to live by the guidelines he set.

I met Morgan Freeman. I worked with Morgan Freeman.........75th... You are no Morgan Freeman. ;)
