Morgan Freeman: Black History Month is ridiculous.

Then there are people like you who don't know the first thing about Jesse or what he stands for. People who put words in his mouth and make allegations they have no proof or evidence of.

This is what's rediculious about these types of threads. People use the word racism and don't even know how he's being racist...

I think it's ignorant to say "black history is American history" and then dont address the extent at which 'black' history is integrated in the history books.
After thinking about it, the answer is probably that 'white' people here would say he's racist.
Anyway back onto the history books, I bet you know what ice cream is but I bet you don't know who Augustus Jackson is...

Anyway all this crap about Jesse being racist needs to stop.

jesse looks racist on TV but deep down inside I'm sure he's not. He's rather an opportunist who uses the race card to push himself to the top. Kindda like Bush using WMD to get approval for his war. care to explain why Jesse Jackson was calling the execution of Tookie Williams an act of racism ? it was all about a scumbag on death and then it turned into another racist drama...

Black History "is" everyday....observing it for one month is only to bring recognition and tribute to those who have contributed to it so far. Please don`t misunderstand the meaning of BHM, White History is taught and talked about 95% of the time.We just don`t call it white history. And no one is really bitching about that.....

Wow.. this thread went downhill the moment GJohnson started posting.

Its too bad.

Morgan Freeman seems like a very intelligent man.. I think there are many intelligent blacks out there who probably agree with him and wont speak up in fear of being labelled "uncle toms" by their peers.

Just like so many whites who defend racist institutions like "affirmative action" and "diversity training" but will NEVER squeek a word in fear of being labelled racist.

You all dont see it.. the whole culture of "race" is the new religion.. the new "preisthood" where ANYONE who speaks out is branded a heretic.. a RACIST and excommunicated.. their professional lives destroyed.

ANY free country that supresses dissent of ANY kid.. free speech and ideas of ANY kind isnt truly free..

Jesse Jackson is a politician and his party is the race party. People need to understand that. He plays that card just like others play the partisan politics game, saying things they know are embellishments or stretches of the truth just because it benefits their party. If you're going to hate him then you have to hate everyone else who plays the game the same way.

No Jesse Jackson is a rascist, liar, aldulterer, and then some. He doesn't do a lot of good for good people. Like when he got those 4 students' expulsion reversed for the lynching they put on another student at a HS sporting event. All of these kids had multiple criminal charges including multi felonies. These kids deserved expulsion even jailtime especially being multiple offenders. He is also a supposed revrend who fathered a child with another woman who's not his wife. And you think he's a good person?

Last year Jesse's rainbow push coalition came to my job site with picketing signs saying that there aren't enough minorities at our job. The dumbasses didn't realize that we were building a Target store in downtown Chicago that is not a govt funded job so there is no minority quota where you have to have a certain % of minorities working. Little did they realize that half the contractors were minority contractors whos employees were more than half minorities. Nedless to say they had to leave peacefully. So gjohnson copme up with some credible excuse on why JJ is a good person.

All I have to say is what in the blue hell are you talking about???

The words of a racist man:

http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/jessejackson1984dnc.htm

Tonight we come together bound by our faith in a mighty God, with genuine respect and love for our country, and inheriting the legacy of a great Party, the Democratic Party, which is the best hope for redirecting our nation on a more humane, just, and peaceful course.

This is not a perfect party. We are not a perfect people. Yet, we are called to a perfect mission. Our mission: to feed the hungry; to clothe the naked; to house the homeless; to teach the illiterate; to provide jobs for the jobless; and to choose the human race over the nuclear race.

We are gathered here this week to nominate a candidate and adopt a platform which will expand, unify, direct, and inspire our Party and the nation to fulfill this mission. My constituency is the desperate, the damned, the disinherited, the disrespected, and the despised. They are restless and seek relief. They have voted in record numbers. They have invested the faith, hope, and trust that they have in us. The Democratic Party must send them a signal that we care. I pledge my best not to let them down.

There is the call of conscience, redemption, expansion, healing, and unity. Leadership must heed the call of conscience, redemption, expansion, healing, and unity, for they are the key to achieving our mission. Time is neutral and does not change things. With courage and initiative, leaders change things.

No generation can choose the age or circumstance in which it is born, but through leadership it can choose to make the age in which it is born an age of enlightenment, an age of jobs, and peace, and justice. Only leadership -- that intangible combination of gifts, the discipline, information, circumstance, courage, timing, will and divine inspiration -- can lead us out of the crisis in which we find ourselves. Leadership can mitigate the misery of our nation. Leadership can part the waters and lead our nation in the direction of the Promised Land. Leadership can lift the boats stuck at the bottom.

No point in debating with a person who will not listen or change their views anyways....

No directed towards anyone.... just obvious that many are stubborn

The only point in debating with people who are ignorant is to shine light on them. Face it , you don't understand much of anything that you talk about. Google cannot help you in this one. You have to have a certain understanding before you can go on the internet and look for things. Face it, your understanding is 180 degrees off course....

Morgan Freeman was my favorite actor before I saw that interview, he is a great man. He's one of the few celebrities that I respect. He makes perfect sense.
