MM107's Venture to the 5x5. Magazine Covers, Here i Come! ( Pics Inside too)

yeap u dont understand it too clearly =]

the 5x5 im on periodically loads weight onto the bar in percentages. (12.5) each set. DOWN from my MAX set...

The idea is to add weight to the bar every week, so if ur doing 200x5 on monday, next monday u should go for 205x5. Friday's last set is your 205x3, so it prepares you for the jump...

kinda simple if u just follow it w/o changing it up much...

I guess I dont understand your 5x5. I know the Bill Starr 5x5 is different. Here is an explanation from Madcows site on the 5x5.

So 5x5 is 5 sets of 5 reps with working set weight (warm up to the target weight for the week and proceed through 5x5 with that weight). Where 1x5 is present you are ramping the weights upward each set to a target set weight for a single set of 5 (it's still 5x5 but each set gets heavier and your target set is the top set of 5).

You beat me to it. I do see where the intermediate is different, my bad. Good luck.

Hey ALL! Log update! Almost Lost the Battle, But destroyed in the end!

IWhats up everyone? Yesterday was a good lifting day for me. Sqauting felt solid. Legs little sore from monday, but i got through the lifts relativily easy. Incline, grr, actually lost some strength here (2 weeks off). Maybe i just wasnt confident with weight. My spotter was a moron with these and last time he was a moron i think he hurt my shoulder by lifting the dumbels wrong.

Squat:

180x5
225x5
275x5
275x5

Incline Dumbels:
70x5
80x5
100x5
110x2 ( Just wasnt confident, Since DB's are now in the hundreds, its starting to get rough lifting it up into possition. I think im going to switch to incline barbells )

Deadlift: You gotta visualize this set up. The purpose is to have less weight on the botom of the lift(since my lower back was bugging me) and all weight on the top of the lift.

Setup:
In the cage
1 Thick Green band on each side going from the bar to the cage pins
On the bottom you can see the bands will help lift the bar, but once it gets to almost lockout the bands are loose(dangling) so u know there is no more support. Actually was GREAT to do a slight variation of the DL. Got it up preerty heavy. Also got this on camera, and will show u the setup tomarow.

Sets:
221x5
309x5
397x1
529x0 ( Missed ) this is where the battle to greatness begins
485x1 ( Nailed, PL i was working with letme know some things i wasnt doing right)
485x1
485x1
583x1 ( Crazy weight, popped blood vesels in my kneck, but i love it. It felt so fucking heavy once the band tension came off. I battled the whole lift. No jerking, a smooth battle pull. but fuck it. i WON and felt GREAT.)

I feel since i took 2 weeks off from DLs & Inclines i did loose some strenght, but i wanted to do something to was easier on my lower back and that idea was 'genius' to me at the time lol

Accesory Work:
Chinups: 2x in front of kneck (10 reps) / 2x in back of kneck (10 reps)
Reverse Hypers: 110lbs on machine @ 4 sets of 10

I brought in my camera to catch the lifts. I cought the 5 plates on camera before the bat ran out. Charged it up and im bringing it to the gym again today to record my ab workouts. Since most people dont quite get the setups lol.

Thanks all!

lol i tried to kick its ass, FEELS GREAT tho, ALL the muscles from my TRAPS to lower back still feel pumped so i know my form was decent actually.

Yea DEF the first time near 600lbs. Remeber it has the bands on the botom, so if you explode fast enough the momentum really helps. I exploded as fast as i could just enough to get it past the hardest sticking point. It was off the bands because the band we used was preety long. Once it comes off the bands you really feel it. Felt good. Mentally know i know what 585 feels like. Esp on my hands. I have a bruise on both hands where the bar was LOL.

Battle was won =]

Im aiming for:
Squat: 450 RAW( so hopefully if i get a suit 475-500)
Deadlift: 500lbs RAW
bench: 315 RAW Maybe 350 w/ bench shirt if i ever get one or one of the PL's let me borow theirs.

So totals arent too crazy = 1265

I did 405x1 Sqaut RAW, after doing heavt presets.

I figure i have atleast 12 weeks before competition. If i go up 5lbs/week on the sqaut then i will have gone up 60lbs in my sqaut. I fell in love with sqauting. I still love my deadlifts. My bench is the only lift i really am not 'excelling' in. Im not worry about it too much, thats prob why. I just started doing some band work for chest.

i am so exceited about the DL yesterday. I was kinda skeptical from the 2 weeks of to come back and bang out 435x5. I just felt my lower back was still achy/bruised so i needed to do something lighter. Besides if i wear a suit for the DL comp too, my lockout will be weakest and i cant miss at the lock.

KICK SOME ASS =]
