Miss Australia contestant

yeah... not kewl.
Thing is She's Miss Australia...so ummm.... maybe we are kinda fucked up too.

She'll never win Miss Negro with that figure.

Using BMI is kinda fucked - but she does look a bit sickly.

But is it ridiculous to think a 19 year old could have a body like that naturally? with no eating disorders? I could see it.

she's gross and all, but what fucking parent is teaching their kid to look up to fucking beauty pageant contestants as role models?

who gives a shit, she shouldn't matter either way.

Sad! She clearly has an eating disorder out of control, as she got even thiner for the contest, probably thinking will make her look better.

It is well established in the medical community that BMI is not useful in the young, the old or in athletes.

It does have some use in other groups.

Well established? Really? Good.

Though it seems every article I read about weight gain/obesity still references it.

she's got a gorgeous face, and great body type for a model. just doesn't even remotely fill it out

i don't ever understand why she would want to be "that" thin though. there's thin, and then there's boney. that's boney :(

i couldn't read what she weighed. but she was at like 120 something she'd be perfect

The Australian Medical Association called on pageant organisers to impose a minimum Body Mass Index of 20.

LOL! How about less regulation, and the judges and viewers just get their heads out their asses!

The girl is 5'10". I am 5'3 1/2" and hover around 125#. I'm a size 2-4 depending on the cut/manufacturer and fabric the garment is made of. Granted I have a bit more mass than what MOST WOMEN find desirable. But 5'10" and 120#? That is STILL anorexic.

She's a beautiful girl... too bad she has such obvious issues. :(

nope. it's thin, but not anorexic. 5'9-5'10 120-130 lb range is thin without being bony. i've dated more than a few girls that fit that type and none of them looked "unhealthy". just tiny bones and hips

that would be unhealthy for someone who has a larger frame or bone structure. i'm talking about girls with very thin and long frames without much curves, which is what she has

I guess I generally associate height with a larger bone frame. Even though I am short, I have a small build - just have a thick waste (rarely gets below 27") and more mass than most women.

I keep forgetting how much more muscle weighs.

Different people have different body types.

My roomie in college was 5'10 and 120. I lived with her for three years. She was a totally normal eater (well, normal for a college kid - lots of pizza and mac and cheese). She didn't even know what a calorie was until she met my obsessive ass.
She looked very thin, but not unhealthy.
At that time we were in our late teens and early 20s.
She's in her late 20s now and has probably gained 5 pounds.
She is just one of those lucky bastards that was born that way.

Phone number please...

yeah, but evolution has also determined that a girl who is naturally close to 6 feet tall and 120 probably doesnt have any tits

Even better, I can drop a load in it without being a baby daddy. People have choices about how they live their life and neither I nor you have the right to dictate how someone lives their life. That's reason #1 I'm against socialized healthcare....I can go on....

I'm attracted to athletic tits on a stick...evolution has determined that's the only chick I'm willing to reproduce with...

Mel wasn't the hawtest chick but she is smart as hell...she was a biology major with a chemistry minor...she went to Vet school at OSU and eventually ended up at MCO....she's nothing special, she's the first one to admit it, but I love her. :)

i cant stop looking at her hip bones

those things are like blades...they would kill most dudes

I don't think that anyone is saying that a beauty contestant is a "role model" necessarily, any more than a fashion model or beautiful actress. But for anyone to even TRY to deny that these women who are so highly prized for their physical beauty alone influence the way many women (young women and girls especially) feel about themselves when they try to "measure up" is IMHO not truthfull. Most little girls' mothers are NOT on the cover of magazines nor do they live any sort of "glamorous life". Hopefully these little girls will grow up to realize that their true value has NOTHING to do with their exterior, however, let's be real folks.

MEN VALUE BEAUTY.

Society runs into problems when *the standard of beauty* is dicated by women who are obviously unhealthy whether it is because of dangerously unhealthy weight (above or below what is truly healthy. None of us needs to know precise bf% to determine that... do we?), crazy cosmetic procedures, etc...

Choosing to "reward" a woman's obvious issue with a HEALTHY body by giving her accolades (crowning her a beauty contest winner) is IMHO dangerous. This stuff is insidious, whether we care to admit it out loud or not.

It saddens me, greatly. The woman in question is a tremendously beautiful woman. It's really too bad that SHE can't see that. :(
