I think someone should explain why Michael Vick is scum of the earth for shooting, drowning, electrocuting and hanging dogs meanwhile John Gotti, who probably shot, drowned, electrocuted and hung even more humans is a national hero amongst many white Americans. Why do we vilify gangster rappers and the inner city drug culture and at the same time romanticize the Mafia?

Mafia dudes wear nice suits and own restaurants. To me, mafia dudes are worse than gangster thugs. Russian mafia guys not only kill you, they kill your friends and family.
 
It doesn't make much sense, but no one is willing to admit it. I saw one new program today have someone on that admitted this was a huge over reaction, but of course for every one sensible person there are 10 that would love to see Vick lynched if they had the option.

Ok, here is an easy answer to your question. John Gotti made his living off crime,as did many other mobsters during that time frame. Michael Vick is a stupid fuck who was already getting rich the legal way through a talent he was blessed to have, and then fucked it up fighting dogs in the ghetto. And last time I knew, nobody was vilifying gangster rappers or inner city drug culture, seems to me more people are trying to embrace it and kids think it's cool to live that way. So for every white person who glorifies mobsters like John Ghotti and mobster life, there is a 13 yr old black punk walking around with a gun listening to Snoop Dog on his walkman. I have a question for you as well. How come everytime a white person gets thrown in prison, white people really dont give a fuck? We actually make fun of their asses. But everytime a black person does something, you immediately try to justify it and make it a black and white issue?

Exactly........Mobsters wont mess with you if you dont mess with them. Just mind your own business and nobody is gonna bother you. Neighborhoods where they lived in NYC used to be much better. No graffiti, crackheads slinging dope, no hustlers or hookers. Im talking about Gotti's generation and mobsters that had some honor and some kind of code. Now Little Italy in the Bronx is all graffitied up, people are stealing and stabbing each other whenever and wherever they like. Back in the day you fuck up and you swim with the fishes.

They didnt bother blue collar hard working people, but you do business with them and you're on your own.

But now, white-black issue, i dont know what we doing about it..............many white cops get killed in the line of duty and nobody marches, nobody protests. Al Sharpton is nowhere to be found, but as soon as one black crook goes down, there goes the protest.

Not to say there isnt white crooks or black cops that get killed, its just that people always make it seem a racist issue.

What do we have to do, give in to pressure and let a person off the hook even though he deserves a death sentence? Just because we are pushed in thinking that it was discrimination and this is a race issue?

It's like we hold totally different values. I think this is one of the fundamental reasons there will always be conflict between the two groups.

Black America sees nothing wrong with dog fighting, White America thinks it's abhorrent. (Generally, and I stress generally)

We just look at the same things differently. Since we have inherent differences our culture and society reflects those differences. To put it in other words.... Race is not a social construct, rather society is a racial construct. Since we are of different races the culture, society and VALUES will be inevitably different.

I wasn't aware Mr. Vick was a gagnsta rapper and part of the inner city drug culture. I thought he was a multi-millionaire with an amazing talent for athletics.


The love / hate with the mafia is quite odd, but that goes for both the italian 'mafia' and all the gangsta thug groups that are out there. There is endless romanticizing of Bloods / Crips by inner city cultures - just as there is of the mafia by italians. That doesn't make the Vick case about race, thats way off.

That is what happened up here in Quebec. Fifty years ago the French were poor slaves with no jobs, money or food. They relied on the English to feed them and give them jobs.
The French were given more "rope" so to speak and they started to get educated and build more industry. They were given more rights and they walked all over us.

If you go walking thru the Bensonhurt neighborhood of New York the locals (almost all Italian) there will have you convinced "Uncle John" was a saint because he did a lot for the community while pillaging everywhere else. Vick has done a lot in the Atlanta community while abusing dogs. THIS is the double standard I'm talking about. I'd rather live next to a guy that drowned a dog than somebody who chopped a guy into pieces and dumped him into the East River in a trash bag.

I spent part of my life in West Bridgewater Mass....near Brockton and all my bros were Italian meatballs with relatives from the area all the way down to Providence and out towards Pittsburgh.

Mafia dudes wear nice suits and own restaurants. To me, mafia dudes are worse than gangster thugs. Russian mafia guys not only kill you, they kill your friends and family.

Gotti never drowned or hung people .... They were almost always shot in the back of the head with a small caliber handgun... Just saying

And most likely ashamed of our brethren as a whole, unlike the way most black people react towards the Vick case.
 
You can't even compare Gotti and Vick. Both deserve to be punished, Gotti a thousand times more though. Give Vick a huge fine and suspend his sentence. He is going to lose his shirt due to his conduct via having to pay the NFL and the loss of his endorsements.
