hey that's a loaded poll.... hehehehhe been taking lessons from me??
the over 6 months is 50% of the 70% so 35% of all men at a minimum. sample size seemed statistcially significant to me and i personally checked the t-stats and z-scores and they all seemed fine. i believe the survey - was just wondering what posters here would say when surveyed.
my guess is...
1. posters here are better looking than the general public
2. posters here are more narcissistic than the general public
3. posters here would have more aversion to STDs than general public b/c risks with their bodies are borne out with gear not other ways
4. posters here have same or lesser soci-economic (perhaps more students, so less money than general public) status.
therefore, posters here would have less affairs than the same group for the survey - the survey's sample group was probably male urban professionals, 25 years old plus... predominantly white (law of #'s), etc.,
my thoughts...

Lying is one thing I have big issues with. I can get over a lot of stuff. However, if I think you have lied to me, then I lose a lot of trust, if not all my trust in that person. I had problems with a person last year and our friendship almost ended when I thought he had lied to me about an ex. Long story. I agree with big. I don't see how a person can cheat on someone then go right back to them and pretend nothing has ever happened. That is all while they are possibly thinking on the next time they can cheat or continue the affair. 
I dont buy that study because for a man to make a "nominal" amount of money usually means he was nstilled with old fashioned values that gave him the drive, work ethic, etc. to get to that point of earning a high income. Included with those old fashioned values would be fidelity of course.

my ex GF worked in a professional job (w/degree) and got hit on by married men constantly. They knew she had a BF and still tried to talk her into staying late or going out after work, etc. She was very hot, but didn't wear much makeup to work and always wore her hair up. Even that didn't keep them away. Anyway, I think most married men will cheat if the girl is hot enough.
FUnny, I just read an article last night on women infidelity. It stated that women married for 4+ years having affairs went from 30% in 1970 to 70% to 1987. The numbers are the same between men and women. I'll find that article so I can post the source.

I have had the opportunity but I value my marriage & my wife & kids alot more than a one nighter or a brief fling. I guess I'm from the old school when I say it's all about trust. I also know that I'm probably in the minority here on this one. oh well.......

I personally doubt the validity of this poll, and DEFINITELY would like to see the % of WIVES that cheated from the same groups polled, but why are you posting something like this when you brag about how you're gonna cheat on your boyfriend all the time?

If it was a joint study conducted in part by Standford, its probably legit. However, 70% male infidelity rate is real high.
If the researches wanted to add study relevance, they shouldve polled the wives as well (no pun intended)

Notre Dame is independent, and its a very good school
they're both top undergraduate institutions. Notre Dame beats Stanford in some areas and Stanford beats ND in others. Overall, academically Stanford is rated higher, and their MBA program is right up there with U of C, Northwestern, Wharton, Harvard, etc., whereas ND is second tier, top 15 but not Top 5....
I am not associated with either school, I tried to get into ND as an undergrad but was rejected (the bastards). something about lack of morals or something like that...

Also, before I was married I probably nailed 25 married women (just a wild guess) and truly believe they are the easiest to manipulate. As long as I convinced them they where right and allowed them to believe their husband was wrong (for not noticing them, bowling too much, being a fat ass, not complimenting them on their shoes, etc) I had it made. So, as a result of my "experience" with married women (starting at 16) I'm convinced women have just as many affairs as men AND, unlike men, take no responsibility for their actions - just blame their husbands.

Regardless, location wise I'd rather be at stanford than south bend indiana.
that's 4 sure - Palo Alto is a beautiful place. and their MBA school is really top notch, it was quite the rage when the dot.com's were hiring all their graduates at great salaries and even though that's all down the toilet now, its still a great school with a very low % accepted rate (much like Notre Dame for undergrads)

Cindy, I disagree with your reverse Bell theory. Men gain power and prestige and probably start getting opportunities to cheat as they approach middle age, and then it drops off again as they get older, like a traditional Bell curve. As for women, it is definitely a declining slope and is inversely proportional to age, because as we all know, men age much more gracefully than women do, and if you're going to risk your marriage and career, it will be with a hot young thing.

Notre Dame is one of the last independents, but it has lost much of it's luster in sports lately, the pressure is on for them to join a conference like Penn State and others did. Ironically, their new football coach Tyrone Willingham just moved over from Stanford.
Back to the poll, I think Bill Clinton is a good example of why many men cheat. Here he was, arguably the world's most powerful man, and he was going home to Hillary every night. It just ain't right! When a Monica Lewinsky comes along and throws herself at you, it is difficult to resist.

I'm not defending the guy, but if I was married to Hillary, I'd probably cheat too. I think he married Hillary for reasons other than love, or has stayed married for reasons other than love. Same on her end, she should have dumped him a long time ago.

Probably. The thing with Hillary though, he probably wasn't even getting any. No excuse though, he could have divorced her, but it wouldn't have been politically expedient. I am surprised they have stayed together now.
