Something is wrong in the middle of my chest. I've been doing dips for a couple of years but here recently I've been adding a lot of weight on my belt. I think i messed something up pretty bad. When I stand up after sitting down for a while my chest has to Pop. It hurts too. It's not like a sore muscle but more like a bone problem or something. I can incline bench no problem but I can barely hold myself up in the dip position. What the Hell...

Than happened to me in the past when I started working out again, after a year off increased too much weight on a such a little time, next thing I knew I was doing dips with 2-45lbs plates and my chest popped right on the middle, fucked up thing, it took a while to heal and evrytime I got up after a while relaxing it always popped, even when taking real deep breaths. No worries there it will heal in time, just stay away from dps for now and do what you can.

It could be an inflammation of the cartiledge of the sternum, costal condritis, or it could be a bit more complicated.

I found this and thought you should be aware of the possible injuries.

The sternoclavicular joint connects your collar bone to your sternum.

This joint does not have as much cartiledge holding it to your sternum which makes it unstable.

Injury to this area (car accidents, sports injuries, falling down, weight training etc) may cause this joint to dislocate and will cause pain in your chest and shoulder area.

The joint can be dislocated in two ways.

There is an anterior dislocation which means your clavicle is pushed in front of your sternum.

There is also a Posterior dislocation which means it is pushed to behind your sternum. Posterior is more dangerous to your vital organs.

When it is anterior you may feel a hard bump in your chest from the bone, and there will be heavy chest pain and possible shoulder pain as well.

You may have damaged the intra-articular disc ligament which would cause a grating, clicking, or popping feeling. I would bring this discussion up with your doctor and he will probably give you an x-ray to confirm the dislocation.

If it doesn't heal properly, you can end up with sternum-manubrial disruption, which may require surgery.

I've had the same problem. It sucks.

Try some broomstick dislocates. These will help open up your chest and improve thoratic flexibility. I do them as part of a warm up everytime I lift.

I'm thinking it's just an aggrivation because it's getting better. What makes me nervous is that there wasn't a pop or anything sudden that let me know i had hurt something. I could have very well kept on going and really messed up. It did feel like something was dislocating and then was popping back into place when I stood up. fuck it. it's looking like heavy shoulders and pink dumbell flys for summer.

Thanks Ya'll
