I'm one of those skinny guys with a metabolism on crack.

What basically happens is I'll work out for a period and struggle to gain weight, gain a little, and then lose all of it during a layoff.

Well recently I finished a 2-month layoff during which (surprise surprise) I lost weight... 15 pounds of it!

I weighed myself and almost wanted to cry. I thought, "cheer up, muscle memory...right?"

well, during the past 5 weeks I've discovered that... MUSCLE MEMORY WORKS

I gained 10 pounds in five weeks and like 7-8 of it is lean. Basically I reinflated. I'm almost back to where I was in 5 weeks. Plus I finally have my HST routine exactly how I like it. Looking forward to setting some new size PR's soon :D

That's great that you've regained your previous size and weight.

Always remember, no matter how fast your metabolism is, if you have trouble gaining weight, your not eating enough.

Muscle memory is definitely legit.

EAT MORE, GAIN MORE :chomp:

Nice work bro! Its a vicious cycle of 2 steps forward one step back. Keep at it.

routine:

squat x2
SLDL x1
Calf x1-2

DB flat press x1-2
Mid-grip cable rows x2
Pullups x2
Chest dips x1-2

DB OHP x1-2
DB bicep curl x1
Rear delt x1
machine ab curl x1-2

That's all she wrote. when I list a range like 1-2, that means 1 or 2 depending on how I feel that day. Also for the chest/back superset in the middle, I alternate which chest and back exercises I do first on a given day. This way each movement gets a chance to be done fresh and for 2 sets instead of one.

You must inject muscle memory 3x a day for 2 years, and then it smooth sailing from there. ;)

Naa.. muscle memory is your muscles ability to rapidly recover lost muscle after a layoff. If you got a body, you have muslce memory, no pills, injections or side effects involved.

Muscle memory is when you have done something in the past and your muscles or body, whatever, retains alot of the information, even if you stop doing whatever it is you're doing.

Some examples would be that if you once trained and got your arms to 17" muscular, but then quit training and dropped down to 15" or something, if you started training again, they would grow back to 17" faster than it took the first time you got them to 17" because your body sorta remembers. I can't get real technical about it, but it's a fact.

Take riding a bike for example. Once you learn how, you never forget, that's basically muscle memory. I hadn't ridden a bike in like 7 years and one day I bought a cheapo 10 speed and it was like I hadn't ever quit riding. That's muscle memory.

Or if you once boxed and got pretty good, or did karate and got a black belt, you would have attained a certain level of skill. If you quit doing either for several years, and then started training again, you would improve at a very fast pace, and get up to where you used to be skillwise much faster than when you first got to that level of skill. That's muscle memory.

Hope this helps.

my question to you, is why are you taking layoffs? I mean, a week off every 4-5 months is okay, and even beneficial, but whats with them?

I was having issues this summer. No energy levels, kind of depressed. basically I had no physical energy to work out

I hear ya bro, know what your talking about, but when I find myself bumbed out, pissed off, tired, or in a different ditry ass country, I try to use that as the fuel for my fire!!! Always try to keep your head in the game bro, GL with that...

Also I belive in muscle memory to a point, but the loss of 10-15lbs of MUSCLE in a few weeks, means you were eating pretty fucked up too!, cuz that is alot of muscle to lose in such a short time. IMO

Also awesome HST routine bro, I was wondering what the SME did for his routine, I am goign to try a cycle of it when I return in January/Feb time frame

Good luck bro

Peace
