Look at my new purchase this week.

You do know there are other two wheeled vehicles that don't depreciate in value, get good gas mileage, and on top they don't pull your man-card for right?

Boy that didn't take long. More isn't always better. I want a Vespa first so I can become comfortable and confident on two wheels. Scooter driving is mostly in the city where you'll get the most experience. I'm also going to be getting an old bike ie. 1975 Honda to work on as a side project. If I love the scooter still a yr or two from now and want something bigger with more power then I will get a motorcycle.
 
To be honest I'm extremely nervous. You would have no idea how many gruesome things I have seen working in the trauma ICU and ER these past few years. More then half of my trauma pts in the summer months are motorcycle crashes. My passion for getting a Vespa has outweighed my fear though. This is why I'm taking baby steps per say. Also took the safety driving course as well.
 
Nah just had to give you some shit. They are pretty cool. And I understand the whole motorcycle thing... ever since I moved to CA I have been pretty freaked out to ride as people are constantly getting in gruesome wrecks out here. I saw one fatality happen right in front of me near Oakland last year.
 
after watching 24/7 washington caps/ pittsburgh pens and seeing mike green on that vespa. i dont know what to say about that. this ripped fuckin dude on a vespa. lmao that'd be something to see. u should get a mohawk broom top kinda helmet too. look like a modern day spartan. or just a spartan outfit lol

i havent seen a whole lot bein from a small town. travelin is pretty easy, but i had one friend who ate shit on his bike. the bike was fine a little scraped up. scared him so bad tho, he parked his bike on the side of the street, walked home, and said whoever takes the bike can have it. keys are in it. i was thinkin of lookin for an older harley to pimp out next year, but i guess bein in a small mountain town its a hell of alot safer

I'm buying a bike next year too, but it wont be a vespa ;)

I just bought a 2011 Honda Civic EX-L...so I gotta wait at least a year before dropping money on a bike...getting a cruiser

I went through a period where I was struggling between the two. What made you go that route and are you happy with your decision? What size road bike did you get? Pics!
 
I can see you on a chopper breh. You know what kind you want to get? If it's your first I've heard never to start off with anything larger then a 600

I still have my crotch rocket but I haven't ridden it much since my divorce. Once you get the will to live back, you realize those things will kill you quick.

And for all you motorcycle nuts out there, holla when you crash. I can get you some orthopedic plates and screws at a good price! I don't have intermedullary nails yet tho, so no midshaft tibial or femoral fractures plz.

Very true, I just wouldn't trust myself on a crotch rocket. I know I would be wanting to just open it up all the time..trying to do wheelies and shit.

I totally get the motorcycle aversion, my mom did ER work and called them donorcycles. She made my dad sell his when they got married and would have a heart attack if she knew I'd been on one. But scooters just look so....short bus to me.

Well how extremely small minded of you. I would have expected more out of you sweet cheeks...

Did you know that if Americans were to switch to just 10% of total mileage on a scooter for just one day we would save roughly 50 million dollars on gas, consume 50 million gallons less fuel and reduce co2 emissions by 324 million pounds? (Source ICR survey, May 2006)
 
Scooters look fun, but it's winter most of the time where I live so scooters and motorcycles are a hard sell for me.

Just go to Hawaii, you'll fit in fine. I figure if a 350 lb. Samoan (man) can ride a scooter, so can anyone else. Everyone fuckin rides em there. Men, women, grandmas, kids, surfers, whoever.

Back in early 2006 when gas went up to around $3.75 or so here (lol, I wish gas was that cheap now), I bought a scooter. It looked just like the one you posted - Vespa style, but it was a Yamaha for about 40% of the price of the one you posted. I worked just over 1 mile from where I live, so it was purely to go to work and back. Saved a ton on gas for a year and a half.

Stopped working there and stopped riding the scoot in December, '07. Nobody ever really gave me shit about it...at least not to my face. :) I wouldn't give a shit if they did though. When anyone would question it I would just point out that I put a gallon of gas in my tank once a month and ask, "how about you?" loolololol! Fuck em.

Oh, watch out ngr! Nobody will see you! Nobody sees motorcycles either, but they usually have very loud exhaust they can use to be heard. And they can get out of the way faster too. Those little tires also aren't made to go probably as fast as the scoot can go. Basically your worst fears will come tru. Someone's going to run you over and leave your daughter fatherless.

pdaddy you know i love you bro but scooters are the ghey and vespa is for someone who isnt man enough to ride a real motorcycle....i love motorcycles....they are badass...and vespas are well, they are the yaris or motorcycles...my 2 cents ...still love you though :) even if you decided to bat for the other team
