Im in line @ movies and this couple in front of me is waiting for Potter tickets, dude notices cowboys & aliens is out and is super excited, bish/gf squashes him by saying the movie looks stupid and they're not watching it, he then says Potter sucks and he's watching, to which teh bish only shrugs and brushes him off... the real irony for me is that I was in line for 1 Potter and 1 cowboys & aliens, hubby hates potter, i dont like his movie (typical dude flick) so we each watch what we want instead of being douches and forcing eachother.... wtf is up with these weird couples.... or are we the weird ones :worried:

I'd see his movie and then next time I get to pick. I don't mind watching movies I woudn't normally have picked on my own. I usually end up liking them.

Why is anyone over 13 going to fucking harry potter? Wizardry? JEEZ!!

Really?

You don't have to be a kid to enjoy a movie that involves kids, or fantasy, or magic...Film is a form of escapism, it's the last place you should be taking yourself too seriously. The harry potter movies are going to be looked back on as family classics.

btw, mitch, I've gone to a movie by myself...it's not a big deal.

More on topic, there's something to be said for going to see something your SO wants to see even if you don't, as long as he's doing you the same courtesy sometimes...like cindy, I usually end up liking it anyway.

Yeah! :) I do it with my Dad all the time. I'll go see some war movie and he'll see what I want next time. I wouldn't usually watch a war or science fiction movie but I almost always end up enjoying them.

I tried watching the first one, and I didn't like it at all. I'm not into wizardry or spells.

how is your husband supposed to get theatre-head if your in another theatre

we usually watch them together and we usually see one he likes and then one i like but then we considered it was a waste of time gas and money.... no real reason to suffer through the others movie just to be empathetic, we both loved our movies last night :)

so he did get theater-head? Public sex ftw.

Yes, couples are weird. It's funny to observe the dynamic of a mini power struggle. It depends on what stage in the relationship you're in, i suppose. I would never consider going to watch different movies with someone but if I was living with someone for years it could make sense.
I'd feel weird watching a movie alone in a theatre. Proly just my self-centred, self-consciousness that comes out.

also, i was kinda pissed at the last Harry Potter and having spent 30 bucks for a "to be continued" movie

we normally only go to the movies if its a movie we both like and really want to see in the theater. otherwise, we wait for it to come out on demand or netflix. just not worth the money if one of us isnt going to be entertained.

i have been to movies by myself but its been many years.

we've waited for the movie to come out too but some movies are just meant to be seen in the big screen due to video and sound effects, no way I'd miss Potter in the theater.....

We've done the going to the movies alone together like yesterday maybe 2-3 times in our 6 years together... we sometimes just go on $5 Tuesdays and watch my movie and then his movie ;)

I read the first 3 books and loved them. Did not like any of the movies. Stop going after the second one.

The movies actually turned me off from reading any more of the books that I originally loved.

That's fine, but no need to harp on others who DO enjoy it. Wizardry isn't just for kids....see: lord of the rings.

Bill - that's too bad....the books and movies only got better. The kids matured, the stories matured, and rowling's writing also matured.

I go see movies with my parents that I'd never have an interest in otherwise...I've gone to movies with my neice or nephews for the same reasons. It's a nice thing to do for someone else to go, not make fun of them for their choice, maybe not be as entertained as they are, but to spend that time with them while they are enjoying themselves.

Did Hermione ever get pounded? I may start reading them again if so.

well that's the thing, I have enough of him at home and work, LOL, also he doesnt like to talk during movies so our interaction is minimal, so we dont spend real time together just cuz we are sitting at the same time in the same place next to each other in a dark room without talking.... :whatever:

lol sorry if I upset you somehow. I was just teasing.
I liked LOTR and the Hobbit, they were really good. The Silmarillion on the other hand was a real yawn. I did of course read them when I was a kid though ;)

That would be Jews and fucking Mexicans.

Yea especially when they're asking their helper to help them change out their Depends.

only time we are talking is when we say "what did they just say" or "what are they laughing about" or "I think I just shit myself, can you help me with my diaper"
We know bro we know

who the fuck talks during a movie (besides black people)
LOL, exactly, that's why I'm saying that to me going to the movies and watching a shitty movie I dont want doesnt really count as support or spending time together.... might as well save a buck and a discussion and watch what you want when different things are wanted...

Unless you're the kid of person who keeps track of "scores" or "points" in a relationship if you are then by all means earn some points to rub in later.......

we sometimes hold hands during the movie or he puts his arm around my shoulder or we turn to each other when its a really good or funny part,or I put my hand on his knee and vice versa etc. thats how we enjoy the movie together. spending time together doesn't necessarily mean talking.

My favorite part about going to see a movie together is talking about it on the way out. I can't stand not discussing a movie with someone it drives me crazy! :) It is part of the things that is important to me when sharing my life with someone, it has nothing to do with power struggle or points.

Chris, Does Lara know you're watching movies with other dudes?:worried:

I fucking hate happiness

And if less than 10 people die the movie automatically SUX ASS

beezy likes romantic comedies

SB's Urban DIctionary defines romantic comedy as a porn flick with deleted scenes at the end.

us? yes we do.... he's always watching animal planet, how many times can a lion catch a gazelle though?! lol but the we watch law and order and balance it out :D
Have you seen the persistence hunt? it's worth watching the whole thing.

You ain't nothing but mammals

Stfu

so...you basically carpooled to the movies?
LOL, well it's not like I can drive myself there anyway.... but we were together in line and everything, we picked same movie times so we just separated for the duration of the movie, considering we live together, work together and are never over 200ft apart it was kinda nice :)

My missus loves me so much she's sat through The Expendables with me.
that movie was badass, I gladly went to watch it!

I sat through Missing in Action 1, 2, and 3. :insane:

You didn't upset me, but the whole "harry potter is for kids under 13" argument is a little bit tired, and frankly, incorrect.

Agreed with smurf....spending time together doesn't have to involve talking. Inconveniencing yourself slightly now and then for the happiness of your S.O. is part of the glue of any relationship IMO. I'd much rather be present for the experiences they are enjoying than hear about it later.

I would completely agree on that if my SO cared about this kind of thing, but he doesnt want to make me watch something I dont want to just as much as he doesnt want to watch something he doesnt want to, we dont see inconveniencing eachother as a sign of love, it would actually be kinda selfish... I guess we are the weird ones in this case...
