Lifting for sheer MASS and STRENGTH

msinnott1000

BEAST MODE
Ive been doing the 5x5 lifts for a while now (maybe 2-3 months) and although have had some nice strength gains, I want something fresh.

Wouldn't mind doing some crazy shit with like an 8x8 program and then super sets along with it, but I'm just not sure how to organize something like that. I need a program where I can get after my lagging legs at least 3x a week and also have cardio in between.

Any ideas on splits, new routines and cardio for adding mass but also staying in shape

Age: 18
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 222
Current Supps: Whey, Creatine Mono, Xtend, Jacked

Just winding down the 5x5 program, lifts are pretty basic machine lifts since I cannot use my elbow (had tommy john surgery 8 months ago).
Leg extensions
Hamstring curls
Toe raises
Squats
Knee tucks (ankle strap attached to cable machine, bringing knee to chest. Targets hip area)
SL Squats
Lunges w/ weighted vest
DB arm raises
DB shrugs

Yep, low rep big weight..

One issue is your height, when you say you want to be huge, what does that really mean?? You will not develop a barrel chest, but you can get much bigger and defined..

Just remember even those of us that are big chested with lets and the "look" And i'm not he look i'm more of the keg but strong... 5'9".. would give up some bulk for 4" of height...

so image and goal is the biggest thing to consider...

so diet as in all thing will determine the outcome..

I wouldn't say that I want to be huge. I just want to get bigger. I definitely feel that I could gain some what and get alot stronger, I don't really care whether or not my arms or chest looks big. In the end I just want to throw harder, and I guess that being strong in the legs plays a large factor in that.

At 6'5" and 222 LBs I agree with Spy. Low reps and heavy ass weight bro. That is gonna give you what you in the least amount of time. Also you must look to your diet. Its hard to eat that much protein day in and day out, but you should be at 1 gram per pound of bod weight. Not easy to do!

Zed! What's going on bro, hope it's all good with the iron?! But yea man, forsure.. Watch y'all think, max. Amt. of reps would be 8??

Also i had a free trial at a public gym today, my first time in a public gym. Dam that shuts kinda a pain, a bunch a people were in there. An then some motherfucker was like following my program, and when I was on my 3rd out of 4th set would be like are you done?

I chewed him out... Shitty first public gym experience lol

I like to stay in 6-8 max range
Usually 6 for most workouts except when using cables.
Becareful not to overdo it with the stuns bro, too much will take away from your mass for sure.
You are technically taking a thermogenic by taking Jacked,
So just keep that in mind bro.

Yeah, that sounds good. And damn man, didn't know pre workouts were thermogenics too!! I just got c4 today to replace my empty jacked. maybe I'll use 1/2 a scoop instead of a full scoop.

1) how great are the effects of pre workouts as thermogenics
2) should i cut them out all together

Thanks for the heads up!

To Msinnott. From a thermogenic stanpoint I wouldn't call them very effective. No more so than a cup o coffee. (Seeing as caffeine is the primary stimulant in them) Things like l carnitine can be found in some, which aids in fat break down. That is used more for energy purposes. The biggest thing u have to focus on with pre workouts are blood pressure and heart rate. Those things are most effected. If it gets u going too much then back off.

If you want to get bigger, don't do cardio. That's like trying to drive somewhere as fast as possible but doing so at 20 miles below the speed limit to save on gas consumption.

Am doing gr8 bro and thanks for asking. Hope you are too.

Ok my man I gotta tell you that program kinda sucks...sorry but tellin you the truth.
My suggestion to you would be to do the Stronglifts 5x5 exactly as it is written. That is a 5x5 that will put muscle on you if you follow it to the letter and eat to support it.
Google it and give it some thought.
I can tell you that this is a very very diff program then what you were doing and you will be amazed with the results.

For a 5x5 to work it has to be the basic compound excersizes. What you have up there bro is really just fluff.
You will understand what I am saying to you when you check out the SL 5x5. It is super simple and it is super effective for dam near everyone that uses it.
Good luck and let us know.:D

I'm good bro, things are slowly getting better now that I'm getting farther and farther away from when I had surgery.

Lol, bro I know. It blows!! But it's all I can do until I'm cleared to do more compound lifts. Which speaking of being cleared... I go to see the doc. In anweek. I'll print out the program and ask him if I can do those excerciaes. I should be ok.. I think.

Thanks man, I'll let ya know if I can start it.

And Nelson: I can agree with that, maybe I'll just stick with 10-12 short sprints every other day
