Depending on the dosage of Lasix you may not need the Potassium at all. Say one 50mg pill will not deplet you that severely. Also the potassium loss is more of an issue if you use interveinous(sp?) diuaretics.

What else are you taking? Do you have any underlying co-morbidities (hepatic, cardiac, renal)? What strength of lasix are you taking? (20, 40, or 80 mg?) If you are taking it first for the first time, you should start low and go slow. 20 mg/d to start and titrate to response. You may get by on diet alone, depending on how much you take and for how long. Just be sure to eat a diet high in K+. Too much K+ can be as harmful as too little.

i was told be a few experts that taking 20mg every 6 hours for 3 days should do a good job.

now, for the potassium, i was planning on eating like 8 tomatoes a day. each has about 400mg of potassium.

but i'm not sure if that's good or not.

i dont wanna fuck anything up... you know?

Let me preface this by saying that Lasix and potassium are both dangerous medications to play around with. I do not reccomend taking lasix unless directed to do so by a doctor. Consuming potassium by diet is nothing to really worry about. A couple of bananas a day is perfect. As for oral supplement, I would not reccomend more than 20-40 meq per day if you choose this route though I reccomend just eating some bananas.

As for the lasix, it is a loop diuretic and thus can deplete you of potassium when used for extended periods or in high doses. 20-40 mg PO a day is pretty benign. I would reccomend simply taking it once a day for your needs. I wouldn't wander to far from a bathroom either :)

Damn, lasix is popular this week. This is my 3rd responce to topics on lasix. From a MEDICAL STANDPOINT, I would never reccomend lasix to anyone when you can use aldactone, which is potassium sparing. As far as a dose for lasix goes, I would only use 20mg/day for maybe 2-3 days. Lasix works very well and very fast. Get ready to piss like a horse. One of the easiest ways to tell if your potassium is getting low is going to be by the severe muscle cramps you will have. Ever notice some of the pros needing help off stage? It wasnt cause their posing routine was so intense, it was from the cramps associated with loop dieuretics. Be VERY, VERY careful with lasix. I believe this is what claimed Mohamid Benaziza, and another pro not too many years ago.

40mg lasix a day a few hours after your workout works best, the pot that get from your diet will surfice, as you stated tomatoes and baked potatoes are good sources. Do not exceed 40mg daily. Aldactone is good short term, long term use of aldactone results in lowering of androgens and has been known to cause bitch tits quite frequently. (I'm not referring to bodybuilders who use other drugs, but to patients who use it as a BP med).

so i took 20mg of lasix at 1 p.m and again at 7 p.m and everything was normal. didn't piss excessively at all!

so the next day i doubled the dose to 40mg at 2p.m and another 40mg at 8p.m and i'm certainly pissing a little more than i'm taking in.

again, only a LITTLE more.

i think 40mg 3 times a day at 4 hour intervals is what i'm gonna try tomorrow.
