Kimbo Slice Fight

I've seen it. Gannon can take quite a beating. I don't think they 'allowed' grappling as I don't remember it going to the ground, Gannon almost guillotined Kimbo at one point though and Kimbo tried a takedown. It's an ugly fight.

Gannon would have coked him out in the first minute - but they stopped the guillotene even though kimbo went for the double leg. Nasty fight but could have easily ended early with groundwork and kicks/knees.

Unfortunately the web porn icon that backs Kimbo was smart enough to rights-manage the fight coverage. $10 fee to download it from whoopass.tv or $15 for the DVD from fightauthority.com.

Guess he knew that there would be enough idiots like me to make it worhtwhile.

Did you hear that the UFC signed Gannon to a 3 fight deal!

I need to start getting into some brawls i think :)

not to take anything away from gannon.. i think it was a smart move on his part to fight kimbo..

Here is a tory for ya...
On of the guys I went to HS with fought in the UFC, he was considered one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of my school, and we had several State Champms...
He went into the UFC with a 4-0 record and got Knocked out... Not totally OUT, he took a couple of hard licks and was out on his feet before the ref stoped it... He is fighting in King of The Cage now and doing well there I think.

In all fairness to Kimbo - held up decently for someone with no formal training...

However, let mma rules apply and that would have lasted 2 minutes max...
 
The way Kimbo bobs and weaves and throws short hooks leads me to believe he has some training.

I wasn't overly impressed with his boxing skills... But yes he swings better than the average man.

True. If he was Sugar Ray Robinson reborn he would probably be a pro boxer and not some backyard brawler getting schooled by a human punching bag.

I don't see the point in making films of people who can't fight? People pay for this?
Yes these guys are big and one could say perhaps have a little heart but man they spent a significant part of the 10min fight catching their breath? Unfit and can't fight for shit either of them.

Having said that Kimbo certainly has some potential if he got fit and learned how to fight.

Maybe you are talking about the backyard fight. However, Sean Gannon is a great fighter. He is a 6 time golden glove champion and his debut mma fight was a victory. He was very limited in what skills he was allowed to use...

Make no mistake, Gannon would have ended the fight in the first 2 minutes with no trouble.

see i actually thought that fight was more entertaining then most fights against two skilled opponents.. it was just a slugfest and a brawl and was fun to watch..

i hate watching some mma matches where people just sit in the gaurd and play a pretend chess match with no action..

It was kimbowned I saw but I will give Gannon the benfit of the doubt as I know a skilled fighter can look awkward fighting someone with little training.

Gannon looked awkward because the he's not a boxer. Kimbo is trained in boxing as his brother used to be a professional boxer. As someone said, if the fight were MMA , then it would have been much different
 
Kimbos boxing skills showed alot better versus byrd. (was that his name?) The duck and counter that splattered open byrds eyesocket reminded me of tyson. That was a sweet move.

No, Gannon is a 6 time golden glove champion. He has also fought in Mass Destruction - an east coast mma circuit. He is far from a B grade athlete and would have easily excelled in that fight if he was allowed to use his skills.

If he was a half decent fighter he'd fight internationally for decent belts and dollars instead of $10000 for some bs backyard brawls.

Hey, if you can stand right side up for a second you dipstick - maybe you can read properly and note that HE HAS BEEN SIGNED TO THE UFC, an internationally recognized association. That is if the UFC makes it to your little rock.

looking at gannon, he does not look like a boxer, I agree !!! I would like some proof to verify the golden gloves awards.

and just because gannon is signed to the UFC, does not mean he is a great fighter....... he is gonna get his ass handed to him. he could have got in through connections and not on skill.

your right, he probably will lose in heavyweight UFC. Believe me, he did not get in through connections. Do you really think Dana White is interested in doing favors or do you thinkk he is interested in drawing a larger audience? Sean Gannon is the next Tank Abbott. Not an overly technical fighter, but a powerhouse that people will like to watch fight smaller guys. In the end, he is still way above a "b grade athlete".
 
Watching the vid again, i give Gannon props. He fought a smart fight. Eveytime kimbo tried to get a breather he was jumping on him. Gannon has heart. That will take you a long way.
