I used to go through my training sessions like 99% of you guys still do today. I was infatuated by EliteFitness and one day I dreamed of becoming a bodybuilder. I realized that even at 6'4'' 285lb. with 13% bodyfat, that I just didn't have the genetics to make it big time.
To put it quite simply my workouts were soft. Sure I lifted with max intensity, but I wasn't training my body to get stronger. And you can't get true muscle maturity without lifting HEAVY poundages.
Recently, over the past two and a half months, I discovered the power of Grip Training and the book Dinosaur Training. My lifting has forever changed and my lifts are at an all time high. Until this past weekend I've been natural for over a year and my lifts are better than ever.
More on Grip:
All of my lifts are up do to my increased focus on gripping and hand strength. From my bench press to hang clean, barbell row and deadlift. I neglected one of the most important muscles on the human body.
Dinosaur Training:
Name given to hardcore lifting by Brooks Kubic. Basically teaches you the importance of Functional Strength and Core lifting.
Today my lifting is strickly, Squatting, Pressing, Cleans, Grip (farmers walk, pinch grip, crushing grip), and torso/abs.
The main problem with today's trainers is that they focus entirely too much on isolation movements (I WAS guilty of this myself). Stick to heavy lifts that involve multiple joints ie: squat
You guys don't have to listen to my advice. When I first heard about this training my reaction was like this, "no way will that work, what about the pump, etc...)" Well I've gained about 7lb. in two months all natural. Take it from me, this training works!
