the cop didnt commit a crime. he may have been neglegent but thasts for a review board to decide. you are stating that him killing himself is illogical as it leaves loved ones behind who will also suffer. im saying you dont know what was going through his mid. the self shame he may have felt could have been so strong the only thing that could alieve it is death
So is it alright for him to kill himself and abandon his family? Because that is what I'm arguing. I'm arguing that it's wrong and that he should not have done it. Are you suggesting that his course of action was acceptable? Now, I'm not asking you if you can understand why he did it. I'm sure you can understand why "mass murderer A" killed X number of people, but you wouldn't consider it acceptable.
Is this police officers actions acceptable, yes or no? If no, then what is it that you're trying to accomplish by arguing with me?

did you see the serial number? might hae been some dirt on it.....might have been so small the 8 looked like a 0.....he might have been on shift for soooooooo long he couldnt read the number properly, the lighting could have been bad....you get my point
It says he transposed two digits, i.e., he saw both digits and put one where the other was supposed to be. Run the damn thing twice to make sure - it's not a candy bar, it's a gun.

im not completely defending him, ultimately he was at fault....only that you are being rather heavy handed in writing him off as a neglegent cop who didnt care for his family enought to not fuck up twice. this is the kind of mistake that MAY and i stress may have happened to anyone.
He didn't care for his family. If he did, he would not have committed suicide and left his mourning widow behind to care for six children. If he was even remotely responsible as a youth, his oldest child couldn't be older than 17 (that's assuming he had his first child at age 18, which is a mistake but is better than anything younger). How old are his other children? 10? 5? 2? I don't think his life insurance plan, if any, covered suicide. His wife and kids are fucked, and he must have known that prior to killing himself. Of course, why should he have cared - he won't be around to answer for it.

cops might be assholes 99% of the time but they do have a hard job
OK, it's a hard job, so is that of a fire fighter, a lawyer, a doctor, a computer programmer, an automechanic, and a damn burger flipper. If someone can't do a job without minimizing the fuckups and not killing himself afterwards, then he should find himself another job.
