My husband's at the hositsl 10 miles away and there are no buses here on Sundays so I cant see him, this fucking sucks, WTF are people without cars supposed to do on weekends!?!?!!? :worried:
I fucking swear I'll get at least a damn scooter once I can  of course I'll need to learn to drive a damn bike... sight... end of rant...

Husband's been admitted since Thursday, had a subarachnoid hematoma/hemorrhage, had surgery Friday, drilled holes in his skull to drain and clean, neurosurgeon is very please since nothing was affected, motor skills, speech, cognitive, etc all is fine, hell we drove us to theER for the CAT scan so he wasnt that bad, he had been having headaches for a while and this week they got severe so after much insistence we went to the Dr who told him to go to the ER for the CT, and there it was... seems he's had the bleed for at least a month but since his pain threshold is so high it is until now he got diagnosed, nurses and surgeon told him he's damn lucky to be here and should have had a stroke, convulsions or even died.... this all happened so damn fast....

oh my god.............

i'm sorry nan. that's awful. what caused this???? Sounds pretty young to be having these problems. it wasn't related to his injury was it?

fuck. dude's had a rough a month or two

no, I need a corneal transpalnt and even then they cant guarantee that A. I'll be able to see fine and B. that my body wont deform the new cornea, I have a Keratoconus, which means my body deforms my kornea, there is no know cause for it, it's treatable with lenses and different things but not in this advanced stage...

As per my husband, they cant fully determine the cause of the bleed, the only 2 possibilities they agreed may have cause it are either A. when he broke his elbow he fell on all 4s, there was no head trauma, but the fall was so hard that the impact could have caused it, pretty much he "rattled" his brain or B. about 2 months ago we went to Busch Gardens and after the rides he had headaches and the headaches persisted at least a week after so they said the force and rattle of the rides (specially the damn wood roller coaster) may have done it, they said it's more common than people think, but it could have also just been spontaneous... they dont know...

hitch a ride? take a bicycle?

I'm sorry to hear about your hubby nan. I hope he recovers soon and stays well.
I dont have a bike.... I'm afraid of hitching a ride, too many whack jobs out there... I'm thinking of walking a couple of miles to the goodwill store to see if maybe they have any bikes.... but if they dont I dont know what to do.... it doesnt help that it's about 93 degrees outside.... :worried:

Subarachnoid bleed...sounds familiar; isn't that the same thing Bret Michaels from Poison had awhile back? If it makes you feel any better, he went on to have a full recovery with no lasting ill-effects. But yeah...unless you live in a city with a subway system, you really do need a vehicle.

The Dr came in and said subarachnoid hematoma, once the Dr left my husband looked at me and said "does that mean I'm spiderman" xD seems the part of his brain in charge of jokes may have suffered after all :D he really didnt grasp the severity of what happened since it all happened so fast.

Of it's a non profit hospital they should have a free taxi service set up. I would call and tell them your story, I'd bet they might try and help you out.

I've been getting there by bus and a friend we recently made has been picking me up at night but I know today is her day off with her husband and kids, and she would have to pick me up and drop me off so I didnt want to bother her, cab charges me 50-60... plus tip... EACH way... and this is the paycheck in which we pay the mortgage so I dont think I should spend so much, specially since next paycheck we wont have his salary on it.... Im just gonna have to wait and see him tomorrow...

that sucks, I was just thinking the other day you weren't posting often and something must be up.
I also changed department at work and am not doing tech support anymore, Im designing cabling and structure for 711 stores across the country, if all of a sudden you see a 42" display over the coffee bar and a 32" over the grill in your local 7 eleven.... that's me :) but I dont have time to go online since I'm doing designs and diagrams all damn day

Cool. I'm waiting for these to hit supermarkets in the US... they're a huge source of advertising in China hypermarkets.

Yeah, you're in FL, right? Not many places outside of NYC/CHI/BOS and a few others are really livable without a car. We're way to spread out here to have the public transportation of, say, the UK.

I usually walk 1/4 mile to the convenience store to buy my Sunday paper or about 1.5-2 miles to go to CVS or a small supermarket.... I feel green :P LOL

Just called the ICU, nurse told me they finally took the catheter off and let him stand up, they also took out the head drain and he's doing good, it's amazing

I should've warned you when you said you were going. Gwazi is the worst ride ever. I bled last time I rode it, it was so shaky.

Hope your hubby is ok, that's rough. Can you take a taxi, or is the hospital far enough from you that it'd cost a ton?

Did you even read the thread! Lol

Lol I had hit respond before everybody else said the taxi thing, but then I got busy for a minute. So by the time I responded and hit send, everybody else had asked. My b.

lolz, if he cant manage to stay out of the hospital after trippin over himself or ridin a roller coaster i dont think he will last in a fight

¡Dios mio Nan! Was this due to a congenital weakness or the result an old injury, or what?

They dont know what happened, might have been the fall, the roller coasters, both or maybe just spontaneous... but it wasnt a ruptured aneurysm or malformation, good thing is it shouldnt happen again according to the Dr.

LOL this man walked around and drove around with a broken elbow and a hemorrhage in his brain, most people would have either died or had excruciating pain.... and you think you can kick his ass? LOL clearly it would maybe give him mild tickle if you even managed to punch him..... :D

lol

sorry, that is pretty funny when you put it that way.

He wouldn't even have to fight him. Just stand back and let him hurt himself

this about sums it up. its pretty windy up north. often cold too. to many environmental factors for him to survive, and i think one punch to the head would kill him lmao.

but yeah nan, thats some pretty shitty luck

LOL damn it you know his weak spot now :p

I caved and asked my friend to take me to see him again for visiting hour at night, I took him his phone and he called his parents in CR so they'll calm down a bit more and of course it made him feel better too, I also took him a small little box of ice cream which the Dr approved, he was soooo happy to eat it even though it was low calorie and low fat (skinny cow)
They let him walk and the hot nurse gave him a sponge bath :D he's better, the problem is that he still doesnt grasp the severity of what happened and what may happen since (thankfully) he doesnt have any side effects, so he wants to get up and walk but he has to take it easy..... he has 31 staples in his head....

I am really sorry to hear your husband isn't well. I wish i were there to give you a ride, it must be hard for you not to be there all the time. Glad you were able to bring him some ice cream :)
Hope he makes a full recovery, hang in there, and don't be afraid to ask people for help, you will find most people are glad to help out a friend in need. Even if you feel like you are a bother, ask anyway, it is your husband after all, and I think anyone would understand where you are coming from.

Thanks Trex, he's doing much better, they removed his catheter and he walked to the bathroom and on his own so he was released from the ICU yesterday and they might let him go home tonight or tomorrow.
I left him a list of things to ask the neurologist about his case so I can make sure he has a proper recovery and after care, he probably hates my visits because I'm constantly evaluating him, but the nurses havent been doing it so I rather be safe than sorry and do it myself.
He's being weened off the morphine and demerol and now he's taking percocet, he hates it because it's too strong, let's see what they prescribe him after he gets out, so far so good :)

Aw poor guy with the catheter! So glad it's out- horrible things! Glad to hear he is out of ICU too, and is on the shortlist to go home. I'm glad you're taking charge, it's so important, he's lucky to have you there.
Good luck :)

they removed the catheter and he didnt go so they had to put it back on again :s then they removed it and he's good to go now.
So far I cant find anything wrong with him thankfully, it's a damn miracle he's intact, the only problem with that is that he doesnt grasp the severity of what happens since he has no symptoms, therefore he wants to get up, walk, go home, and he has to take it easy, he had brain surgery and he thinks he's fine...

Maybe he's just being strong for you. It sucks he has to be there but better to be safe than sorry especially after brain surgery.
Hospitals suck. Does he have a TV or a PSP or something to do?

Yesterday the neurologist released him, the floor Dr released him and the head nurse released him and then they called his "PCP" and the bitch refused to release him.... said his blood pressure was a bit high and he was the only one there(I'm at work) so he shouldnt drive... so they kept him.... my husband was soooo pissed, doesnt this woman know what a friend/ride is or a csb? this bitch is not our PCP, she saw us 5 min at her clinic and told us to get a CT, we dont have a PCP so she self appointed herself..... now my husband hates her, does this bitch think that hospital stays are free? HTF does she have more say than the neurologist!?!?! hopefully they release him today instead....

If the doctor, specialist AND head nurse released him, that's it. Sometimes it's just an administrative thing too, like no one told her he was released so she was pissed off at being left out of it. That happened to us too, and after arguing and telling her to page the transplant nurse (the one in charge after the doctor), it finally happened. Glad to hear he's on the way HOME!!!

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He just showed up here at work!!! They released him and he drove himself, they told him there was no driving restriction and he can function normally, but holly crap did he take it literal, he's home now....!

Hey Nan, get one of these:
