Is The Arnold Press REALLY Effective For The Delts???

For me, it is actually worse. The extra movement hurts my shoulder that I have been rehabbing for years. Straight up db presses work the best for me, because they cut down on the rotation movement.

I combine some DB Cleans along with my workout for proper rotator working... and add in OHPs with some Seated DB press... I think that works just fine, as long as I preexhaust.

I personally don't like the arnold press for delts. Maybe some people have genetics where it works better for them, but not me.

Traditionaly BB and DB shoulder presses are what I like.

They can be REALLY effective... at messing up your rotator cuffs.

Arnold had one of the greatest bodies ever, no doubt. But I think he got where he did (and escaping major injury in the process) IN SPITE OF some of his approaches to training rather than because of them.

Yeah, I used them years ago when I didn't know any better. I think Dumbbell Presses and Smith Machine Presses are the safest pressing exercises for shoulders.

smith presses really hurt my shoulders. Barbell presses work alot better for me. I think the main thing to remember is to listen to your body. If it hurts, find a new exercise. This has taken me many wasted months to figure out.

Arnold Presses work the best for me... But I still need to substitute it every couple of weeks with another compound exercise... I keep my muscle guessing and that, i think, is really where i get the most results from.

Some guy posted about a week ago asking what Arnold's were and I told him I thought conventional presses were superior. To me it feels like the delts are largely deactivated in the lowest part of that movement. I got a better tricep pump and less delt burn doing Arnolds than conventional presses which suggests to me the lowest part of that range is mostly tri and not enough delt. I think Arnold used the more is better motto developing this movement, i.e, increasing the range of movement has to be better.

I have always thought they were shit. Especially if you are one to go heavier with lower reps on Dbel Militairies. You should NOT be twisting the dbells like that with all that weight on your shoulders. Grinds the shit out of them. Plus, I have never seen why anyone would consider them to have any added effect over regular dbell military presses, other than for the fact that they are name after Arnold. So they must be better I guess, right? Oi veh.
