Is lazyness a habit or a trait?

discuss....

i've lost all motivation for anything at this point. happens quite often. but when i have something new and exciting and am in a "mode" for awhile i tend to be very productive until the momentum ceases.

i'm not sure about everyone else. if i wasn't so lazy i think i'd be unstoppable

I think it is a habit and environmental conditioning. My dad and grandfather were serious workers and go-getters but I am LAZY!!! I fight it and do what I have to do but I could sit around all day and love it!!!! When I don't have a major project I am working on I get a little depressed. Maybe it's depression and not laziness!

I think it's a trait (guilty) but you can make it a habit not to be.

it's funny....there's times where i work my balls off and just completely productive for extended periods of time and then i slip for a week or two and get into a complete slothful mode.

i envy people with a consistent work ethic.

my dad is a workaholic...i don't know why i didn't inherit. my mom also has been a work horse (even though her jobs never were that challenging)

Also I think it's a trait but it can become a habit if you get layed off and depressed and start doing nothing when you should be hitting the pavement looking for a job.

It's a horrible horrible trait to have. Which is why I feel sorry for obese people. So much they can do in life - but they can't - they don't have the energy or self-control. Hence why so many lead horrible crappy lives.

It's a trait that once you get it -- it affects everything else. How do you get it? Upbringing, health, age, environment all are key factors.

But it's a horrible trait. People won't even hire you if you're lazy in life. Not even have you as friends.

did you ever get your car back?

no, that's def a big part of my rut though. no real job, no car, enough money in the bank to "chill". i just finally setup my home office..so i can actually do some work now.

they said they're having electrical problems with the car. All the bodywork is done but the windows won't go up or down. i have to turn it in anyways which means i'll be getting a new one.

i hope that'll be the "push" i need. you can't do shit in this city without a car

I always found that even if you take a job you don't want it better than sitting at home waiting for what you want because you get out the house and your dealing with people and networking and that better job will come along.

Good luck bro!

I think being lazy, unmotivated or a habitual procrastinator is just a glimpse into something larger. It not the actual behavior you have wonder about it is what perpetuates it.

There are all sorts of positive and negative traits that we can have but we have to actively work at having or avoiding.

It's like genes you don't have to have spectacular genes to have a great body it's what you choose to make of what you have you will either have to work to have it or work not to lose it.

c-dubs seriously i've never heard of a car repair taking 4 months. or even close to that. if i were you i'd honestly be there every other day bitching at them.

it was about 2 months ago that i actually placed the work order. but you're right. they're so fuckin far though.

i'm gonna give them 1 more day (tomorrow) and then go there

That is true.

I disagree when people proclaim 'Fat are fat because they're lazy'.

I beg the question:

'Were they lazy, THEN became fat'?

or

'Were they fat, THEN became lazy'?

Chicken or egg question. That 40 y/o fat housewife is lazy. But I bet when she was 22, running around clubs, with a tight ass, she wasn't lazy. So what happened? At 28 she decided she wanted to be lazy, and watch Oprah and eat bon bons?

So which creates the other?

These questions and 'Smurfy showing us how to cook in the kitchen' will be answered in tomorrow's exciting episode of the 'Razorguns Variety Hour!'.

im in the same boat. finals week. mad depression setting in.

burnt out...

no motivation...

been sleeping all day...

fuck me

caves.........im like you.........ill go awhile where im very productive and get a ton of shit done.....then Ill go through some times where I dont feel like doing shit or am just lazy. The funny thing is you mentioned your parents are hard workers. Most people think I am too, I think everyone has a little bit of laziness inside them that comes out from time to time. The difference is do you have more times were you work hard then sit around. I think its good to be lazy at times....just dont get stuck in that rut

I think its kinda like a snowball effect for me, When Im motivated it just builds and I get more and more going. But when I slow down it can build momentum too and its seasonal too.... You must have balance Danualson!!!

CW, I understand where you are coming from. Sometimes I feel like I'm in slow motion. Extremely demotivated and depressed. That crap sneaks up on me.

I think it's part of the normal ebb and flow of life and I just accept it as so more now than ever.

When I DO feel motivated I just revel in it and squeeze every benefit I can out of it and then build on those small wins.
