is it possible to be natural on the Olyp stage?

The odds of becoming any type of pro athlete and living well off the contracts and endorsement deals are very slim to none

Exactly. Even if it did happen...it never lasts very long. Couple years tops and the pinnacle of any sport is the best anyone can hope for if they ever made it that far.

But the masses only see the Mannings, Jeters, Favres, and Kobes on TV. They dont see all the draft picks after the 3rd round and career lasts 3 years, whose numbers are legion

That is the grande idiocy of it all. People are fucking stupid and dillusional. Mostly thanks to mass media.

I wanted to play college football. lol...at 18 I was 6'0" and 175. Quick first 5 yards but slow overall. No gym to speak of at that point. I was dillusional. I had no shot. Ever. My parents said we love you...go do your best. That doesnt get you anywhere.
My kid on the other hand is a fucking giant already. 5'10" and 192 after just turning 12 7 weeks ago. 600+ lb leg press. 25" quads and 14.25" biceps. He hasnt even hit his first puberty growth spurt yet. My foot has been planted firmly in his ass the last 4 years. last year has been diet, training, sleep....grinding the lifestyle into him. Genetically speaking he will be 6'5"-6'6" and 300 lb-ish at age 18(even without AAS). He actually has a shot at D1 and beyond. I will make sure it is not wasted.

I really don't follow the sport of bodybuilding anyway. really as I've gotten older I've gotten turned off by all sports watching.. i much rather play them than watch them on tv and even worse in person dealing with the crowds and drunks.

when i was an endurance athlete i racked up a ton of plaques and trophies... when i was a powerlifter I racked up more plaques. but yeah there is no money in it, which is why i don't have a screaming desire to go on stage. I love lifting and being a gym rat. i don't have to wear a piece of underwear and get on stage with people in the audience to make myself happy

i bet these fitness guru's on youtube make 10X more money off their marketing and supplement sales than bodybuilders who actually live the part. the ones that actually make money just sell their souls anyway to magazines, supplements, and endorsing a tub of crap

I agree with this to a large degree. If you go into competitive bodybuilding, you sure as hell don't do it for the money...because 99.9% will be broke.

For some of us, the stage isn't about any of that. Its very hard to define without having actually gone through it, but anyone that has competed knows what i mean. Its addictive as hell, and being on that stage is the best high I've ever felt. Its also a great motivator, trying to get to an even bigger and more conditioned physique the next time. I'm more than happy just competing at the amateur level, and not placing doesn't affect me as much as some others let it get to them. As long as I best myself each year, that's the goal. I fucking love the stage :)

Damn dude, you sound a little rough on your kid, hes only 12? And youve been grinding his ass since he was 8 with diet and training? Sounds like youre setting him up for burnout and resentment later on. Just my opinion but let kids be kids and they will figure out what they want to do athletically speaking. If its meant to be then it is, if not then you wont have a kid that hates you later in life, or burned out at high school.

+1. Kid at my school his dad was like that and it ended up where he didnt care about football in the end. He was fucking good too. His dad pushed him in everyworkout/training session and eventually that shit will get old to the kid

Just do your thing glad I know a kid that had his dad and mom ride his ass since 7th grade we played mighty mite then peewee football together he played at my school then ended up getting a full ride to a d1 college and his parents is just like yours no party no junk food weight room in there garage all the kid knew was training and busting his ass off. I think it works both ways either the kid will hate it or love it

He has been going to the gym with me since he was 9 to learn how to act and not to act ect. Just hanging out. At 10 I let him do little stuff, lots of empty bar shit to learn form and safety. Last year I had him doing a bunch more stuff. This past off season he has been going and doing as much as he can between growth spurts. when his joints get sore from a growth spurt I dont let him do anything.
He decided to give up all sports a couple years ago to focus on just football. HE wants to play pro ball..and he actually has a shot genetically. Therefore he is getting a head start years before anyone else with diet, life, training ect. He eats to grow bro. I dont have him on a cutter or anythhing. Strictness for diet as it pertains to him at his point just means he needs to eat 5 or 6 times a day. I let him have plenty of junk food. I just dont let him be 99% of everyone else and sit in front of the tv shoveling ice cream and chips 24/7 being a lazy piece of typical american populous garbage. He thinks fat people are disgusting. Example, His school lunch is 7-8 oz of chicken breast chopped up with his choice of what he wants on it. Some rice, a snack or two and water. The water is HIS choice. He has a huge breakfats and also has a shake with him for pre football practice.
He gets to do plenty of kid things. He gets to have lots of fun. He trains when its time to train and bust his balls. Then he gets to do whatever he wants. Im not an ogre bro. I am an asshole when its time to train. its business. When we are done we are done. I have given him countless lectures and talks to make sure he knows the difference between the way I act during training and that any motivational yelling and screaming is for his own benefit. he knows that. he's a good natured kid. His humor, understanding and intelligence is a few years beyond his actual age. I tell him when he gets annoyed with me making him do another set or whatever,,,, "well your either going to thank me when you get your signing bonus and realize why I was so rough on you or your going to hate my ass" towhich he smiles and says whatever dad, I wont hate you.
He has seen me live the life style since he was born so its not like its culture shock to him either. When I'm not injured, he is actually been my training partner this last 8 months or so. He loves it when I can train with him.

The days of a natural pro are over in BBing

Look at the difference in the last 5 year's Mr O and those 25+ years ago. They don't even look like the same species
