My boss decided he needs a personal assistant. He really needs an administrative assistant though, so he's interviewing for someone to do both.
When they aren't busy doing his stuff, they are going to help me out too... So he asked me to interview them first, and if i like them, he'll interview them. If i don't, he'll spend 10 minutes with them and send them on their way. great.
So the first one comes in last week and she's a very thin, mildly attractive woman in her late 40s. She used to be in the travel industry (a big part of her job would be making travel arrangements) and then has been a personal assistant for years, even starting her own concierge service. She considers herself an intermediate on the computer and answered everything in a very normal way.
I give my boss the thumbs up, he goes in to interview her, and spends 2 hours talking to her before sending her on her way.
I said, "so?"
He said, "no good." and then told me she had no personality. I said i thought she was pleasant enough and he said he wants someone more than "pleasant".... someone who will make him laugh (like me) and can put up with him.
so he tells the recruiter he wants big personality. They send us the next woman, and said she has a great sense of humor and personality.
She shows up and she's Filipino. I can't really understand much of what she says, and i don't think she understood me that well. after about 10 minutes, I realized I didn't want to work with her, so i go in to my bosses office and give him the thumbs down.
He goes in and spends an hour and a half with her, only to later tell me I was right and he's mad at the recruiter.
So tomorrow a woman is coming in who basically has no experience, but she does stand up comedy on the weekends. i know my boss is going to love her, and she won't be good for shit.
