Sociopaths are known to not really feel fear. As a result they are drawn to careers that are dangerous just to feel some excitement like crime, policing and military work. I don't know if Irwin counted as a sociopath though. But I'd agree that Irwin's personality was born and not made.

I think that it is a little of nature and a little of nurture. I was less of a risk taker when I was a kid. The older I got, the more I liked to push the envelope, I guess because one get acclimated with the current amount of risk and then goes for more and more.

Psychology is usually for nut cases. It allows them to make an argument that other people are equally nutty.
