Run-on sentence much? I disagree wholeheartedly. I think the explosion of information allows for greater understanding. You seem to take an entropic view in any of your hypotheses. But ramble on as you see fit.
I'm not against technology at all, I just think there is a much more encompassing form of knowledge that is not based on division and classification... a knowledge that is not just data. I'm no antedeluvian Luddite, I am very much for the benefits of technology, I"m just kinda trucculent on how our current limited perception and what we define as knowledge may shape the upcoming generations.
For example I dig on peeps who are able to articulate their emotions with utter clarity, and I think that in order to learn to speak coherently and discern what is below the surface, one first must be learn to listen. Listening encompasses focus, it is the blocking out of distracting stimuli and zeroing in on external information and then attending to it. Listening, not just hearing is the precursor for understanding... how can we really understand who we are or what we are really capable of if we can't listen. The lack of attention or awareness that pervades our culture, and I'm just as guilty as anyone else here, kind of diminishes true understanding.
What does the self exist for, if to not be understood?
I'm sure we may have some differing opinions Red, however rather than promote our differences, I would rather celebrate our similarities...
I think Heinlin was a genius as well and respect your undeniable smarts...
and yeah you are right on with my run on... lol, I suck.
There is my morning rant for ya.
