Ive never been to a funeral before so it was very stressful to say the least. It was also open casket which I wasnt expecting. Very surreal experience all around and Im glad I wasnt younger when this happened. More people showed up than expected and I got to see relatives I havent seen in 20 years. Whole family pulled together and I dont know how my mother and aunt held up so well considering it was their father. My grandmother was actually the most stoic of everyone and she was married to him for 57 years. Its amazing how people can find the strength inside them to deal with what life gives you.
Eulogies given by us were very emotional but very good speech-wise. A Senator my aunt works for was a pallbearer with me, that was interesting.
I found out funerals are very exhausting and make you feel as if you ran a marathon even if you havent lifted a finger. It brought us all closer together and for that I am grateful.

I'm sorry for your loss. Your Grandpa sounded like a nice guy :rose:

The funeral for my Grandfather was fun... He was an assh0le so no one missed him. We drank and told jokes. My grandma almost died from laughter when my dad pretended that he had fallen down a hole, when he was just on his knees in a small ground depression. My grandma's life was so much better after my grandpa died too. He was waaay controling and just plain pissed all the time...

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. At least something good happened because of the funeral. It's kind of sad that it sometimes takes a loss like that to bring families together.

Sorry for your loss bro. I know how exhausting funerals can be.

Were glad to hear that your taking this all in stride.

It's unfortunate that a death of a relative is what brings a family closer together.
