if your s.o. lost a leg while you were dating/married would you stay with them?

If I was in a meaningful loving relationship, I would stay with her regardless if she lost a limb. True love is unconditional. Who has real control over losing a limb? It wouldn't have been her fault so I wouldn't blame her etc...

if something terrible like that happened to someone that you love and your first thought is to leave then you should probably kill yourself because you're a rotten person.

How true, my friend.

If my fiance lost a leg, simply have one-less to kick my ass with.

i'd stay but cheat... a lot. i'm thinking it would have been an accident and that leg's gotta be worth 2.5 million. Plus, when i say "i'm done talking about this" and walk away, she couldnt follow me.

LMFAO!!!! K coming your way for that!!!
;)

If she couldn't do the things we do together, I might have to think about leaving. Enjoying each other and things we do together are what we are now. Changing that may not work out.

id probably bang her a few times to see how it was, but id probably kick her to the curb after that

One place I worked we had a hamster that came fully loaded w/ 12 baby hamsters. When she gave birth, we returned them all to the pet store except the mom & the 12th kid who had a gimp leg. We named him Stumpy. Every day at 4 pm Stumpy would get in the hamster wheel and run for about 45 min. It was sort of like "Thump, step, thump, step, thump, step..." But he would do it every day. He was in excellent cardiovascular condition.

Eventually he developed an enlarged heart or something. We even took him to a fancy hamster vet. He didnt' survive.

Poor Stumper.

Anyway...

I dated man who had a prosthetic leg from the knee down. He lost part of his leg after a motorcycle accident with an 18 wheeler....very bad. It was years before I met him. Anyway, you would not even know unless he told you or your saw him in shorts. We had a blast, he owned a couple nightclubs in Houston and we lived it up. He was a great water skier too.

Dang, I should look him up and see how he is doing.

like i said. happens a lot.

happened to two of my buddies. both combat vets. Their wives "found the first reason", ie some stupid fight, to validate them leaving the marraige.

Which is why Christopher Reeve's wife was amazing for her bravery. Not easy being married to a vegetable no matter what the money. I can only imagine how tough it must be every mornijng.

1. There's a big difference between losing a leg and being a "vegetable".

2. Even if your partner was completely paralysed like C.Reeve then it'd be very tough but if you had any deceny and you loved them then you'd stick with them.

3. I'm not surprised that you think some of your friends wives left them because of their disability...going by the posts on here it seems to be quite common not to give a shit about your partner. I don't know if that's an American thing or not.

Here's something to ponder.

Both their AMERICAN wives left them. They re-married asians, who've they've been married to for decades, and still take care of them.

Being married to an american woman is tough; even tougher with one leg.

...and judging by the male replies here, so to is being married to an American male.

A generalization of course, but still, i can't believe some of the responses i've read.
