Fundamental points. "Gee I hope our boys come home safe!" is completely different from having your city shelled from enemy lines 30 miles to the east.

And you're right. It's been 5 generations or more since any U.S citizen knew what it felt like to fight on their own soil.

Indeed, they can also enlist, one of my good friends in the Army was from some Caribbean island...He took offense if you called him African-American...he is mixed native and black heritage.

Also, I support giving citizenship to anyone that serves honorably for five years in the military.

I agree, and I also find it ironic that residents can be soldiers but they can not be police officers, they can defend the country but not the people.... weird...
