Idiots in the Gym

You guys should be weary of yourselves as well. I overheard myself being criticized at a gym to which I got a trial membership from for the holidays. Two douchebag 100k+ "bodybuilders" who did partial "squats" with 180k. Don't be that douchebag, since it seems most who post in threads like these are (reference to T-nation thread of similar type).

That tanktop/ jeans thing has been around forever. I can't believe people that sport it don't realize it's like a cub scout retard badge.

I also like people that take weights off of your bench/ squat rack when you're in the middle of a set.

My favorite is the guy who will grab a pair of 5-pound dumbbells and stand 6 inches to the side of the power rack doing "bicep curls" just before you're about to do your next set of squats. It's like "Hey fuckhead…can you back up a few feet or do you get off from colliding with the end of a barbell?"

At my gym there's this dude who only works his upper body. He wears a bright yellow cap everytime at the gym and I know his routine by heart.

10 minutes warm up on treadmill
Bench 225 pounds (Always, for the 3 months i've seen him)
Do dumbell curls with 30 pound dumbells.
Preacher curl with 65 pounds.
Tricep cable pull downs.

Now here's the thing, his bench is fine, but it falls apart afterwards. When he curls he will swing his arms up with the full momentum of his body while shaking in a circle doing his 3 sets of 10. Then he goes on the preacher and kind of caresses the bar as it goes down after he pulls it, he will also grunt alot. Then he does his triceps and he just kinda sits there and finishes up and does cardio again.
I laughed once when he was doing his circular swinging routine and he just stared at me.

And yes, his legs are sticks.
That's my story.

Haha very nice. Unfortunately there are a lot of guys like this in my gym, but it's only 2 miles from my house so I put up with it. I just ignore them unless they pull some shit like racking my weights in the middle of a set while I'm getting a quick drink, especially when there is another bench/rack nearby. That gets my blood boiling. Coming back to your squat rack to see a pair of 18 year olds doing curls.

I have to write this...

I'm in the gym, ready to go on my last set of powercleans. One of the bumpers is pretty busted from either overuse or misuse, so it doesn't look or bounce great. Just as I was beginning my set a dude walks up to me and says: "I don't think you're supposed to drop them from that high, you're busting them up." Keep in mind I'm lifting Eleiko bumpers plates on a bona fide lifting platform. I'm a 5'9 unloading the bar from rack position. I tried to explain that this was the purpose of this platform and that people much taller than me drop from the snatch position. He says: "Well but you're only supposed to drop it when you can't put it down slowly." At this point I realized that I was talking to a total moron so I said that I'd rather drop the bar and depreciate the equipment rather than tear a muscle in my back. He walked away without saying anything else. Then I saw him trying to do a powerclean... I say trying cause he was first deadlifting the bar, then upright rowing it to his shoulder level and getting under it as if he was ready to do a press (without racking). Moral: If you don't know what you're doing, it's best to shut the hell up.

These morons in my gym last week were helping a young kid max his bench. The kid was probably 150 lbs, 18 years old. Two of them were on the ends of the bar holding the weight, and one on top holding the bar.

I think they had 315 lbs on the bar, too much weight, and they were letting the bar fall on the poor kid, yelling at him to get it back up. I had to bite my lip. People in the whole gym were watching and were embarrassed to be members that day.

It was sad in a way.

Gotta get this out

I was doing some Incline DB Presses near the smith machine.
An extremely skinny guy that Ive never seen before was trying to bench on the smith.
It mjst ahve been his first time, and while he was "benching" he had a 20kg (45lbs) each side.
He lower the bar extremely fast then took about 3-4 secinds to push up becasie of how heavy was (for him). He done 3 of these then switched the 20's for 15kg plates and done some narrow grip benching. He lowered it once and found this weight was also, too much for him to handle. Aware that many people were staring because of the Wooshing noise from the smith machine, he sucked it up and down 10 more reps lowering the bar about 6 inches.

While he was finishing that I was doing a set of 10 with 32 kg dumbbells. I threw them to the ground and he looked at at and smiled "heavy ay, I know how it is" he told me.........

He must ahve done at least 10-12 SETS on the smith machine that day.

I never seen him at my gym again, I guess it musnt of been his sorta thing.
