Took my car to the dealer last night for what is in the Dealership-Jargon known as "Inspection 1"

Basically, a little bit more than Oil change, a little bit less than Inspection 2... cryptic, huh?

OK, guy calls me today and tells me. "Yup, car is ready, total charge is $265"

I can picture them looking me straight in the eye when I go there and telling me, in their best Swabish Deutsch accent: "A nigga's gotta eat"

I'm walking like a cowboy today

This is even worse than the time the microwave stopped working, so I took it to the shop for a diagnose (diagnose alone was $25, deducted from the repair price).

The guy called me at that time and told me: total is $50. OK, I said, I go picked the thing up, when I look at the invoice: $2 parts, $48 labor

thats pwned twice in less than a year

frigging Germans

Next time wear a padded push-up bra Pintoca! :Chef: :tuc:

Can't you just do your own inspections ? Even the oil change could be done by yourself. What did they do for 265$ ?

bro, over here it's ALL about the stamp on the maintenance book.

Brakdown was probably:

$5 = oil
$160 = labor
$100 = stamp

Is your car under warranty ? if not why care so much about a goddamn stamp ? Dont you have places like Wal-Mart where you can bring your own oil and filter and pay just 10$ for the labor ?

Resale value. No one will buy a car if the maintenance book doesn't have a stamp on every page.

i got pwned by a VCR repair place like that once too.. damn thing was only worth $150 and it cost me $80 to fix!! the part was $5.. little plastic sprocket.

That's bullshit unless he's talking about a 35k$+ car or owns some "hard=to-sell" garbage (read Hyundai-Daewoo-KIA). Around here, it's common to sell 1990s Miatas with no maintenance book and 150k miles for more that 1/3 of its original price tag. It's all about offer and demand and how much you think maintenance stamp will raise the resale value. Btw Wal-Mart will stamp your book on request.

Canada is not Germany.

Offer and demand is the same everywhere. If your car is in demand then you set the rules, not the customer. Btw i dont trust maintenance book. It just show what has been done but doesnt tell you about what SHOULD be done. I'd rather take an hour to inspect the car or pay someone to do it than trust a portefolio full of receipts. The "do-it.yourself" type of person usually take care of their car more than others.

lmfao!

This is clearly an example of what happens to girls and girly men who do not work on their vehicles themselves.

I've bought lotsa cars and never once looked at their maintenance book.

I do ask that they take it to the local dealership and get a clean bill of health report. Plus a lookover by my own mechanic, etc.

The fact that one took it for oil changes every 3k miles doesn't guarantee the car isn't falling apart and belts are about to crack.

It turned out to be a bit less, 200€ ($245)

As for what they did:

Winter check (basically check tires, anti-freeze and everything made out of rubber)
Brake Pads and rotors check
New oil
New Oil filter
New seal rings
New Spark Plugs
labor

It was some $110 parts
$90 labor
$45 taxes

As for the importance of the original stamp in the maintenance book. In Germany that has a lot of weight when selling a car (I'm selling this one next year) and it is prominently displayed in ads (as well as the car belonging to a non-smoker).

It is more important when the car has been tuned beyond original specs (they want to see who did all the work a and who did the maintenance)

It is only a first check, most people will bring their own mechanic as well

and Fast snitch Fiber, I'm amazed you took the donkey-cawk out of your mouth long enough to post. Welcome back bor!

what the fuck are you doing in Sweden?

Swabish Deutsch accent: "A nigga's gotta eat"
Deutsch is german for ........................................ German!
Swabia, Swabish, Swangalanga, whatever, is a region or state in Germany. The German language is not one pure unified language like, uh, Englisch. It's a bunch of different dialects, basically the same, but unintelligible to one another.

Well, I paid for other well-built teutonic guys to do it (so I don't get dirty)... then went home and had a glass of wine
