i disagree with you, the south is superior
easier living, less heating costs, more sunshine
and from what i gather more opportunity as companies relocate
to the new south
try living in winter for 5 months with little or no sun
paying 300 plus a month to heat your home
crashing cars because of ice
slipping and busting your ass numerous times
the south>north

around here the summers are typically mid 80's to lover 90's

In winter the temp very rarely gets below 20. Usually in the mid 40's to lower 60's.

My electric bill is around $70 per month and that is for a 2,300 sq ft house using a heat pump.

It's an ideal place, but yanks stay out!

i had electric heat last winter
monthly bill was around $350

boohoo. i like some friendliness in somewhat unexpected places (i.e. checkout line, etc.), but not always. sometimes i'm in a bad mood. like when i'm awake.

After the monday night debacle I begrudgingly concur. For now.

Oh yea, I ddint want to come out and say it but overall the south>north for the reasons listed by Gambino. However, as a liflong southerner its just time to get a big change of scenery, for as long as I can live with it then probably move back south somewhere.

Lots of "A is a better area" in this thread.

As a few have pointed out, it's ALL personal preference. I lived in a small ass town in Ohio for a bit and spend a lot of time in South Carolina (not counting traveling all over the place). I would LOVE to live in the south (meaning Charlotte or Atlanta) for a few years, but would get sick of it fast. Same with the West Coast. It just doesn't fit into how I roll, same with how NYC doesn't fit with how aap rolls. No issues there. That's why both exist....so everyone can be happy.
