:p

nah im lying. google it, theres a lot of quick fact sheets
Well I actually had one about 15 years ago. Long before I ever took any kind of steroid. My doctor tells me this makes me a 50/50 candidate for another. Another bet I lose.

Bodybuilding diets are inherently acidotic, and a chronic state of acidosis, even mild, can lead to stones. You might try implementing an alkalyzing diet, with goat's whey protien, which is also alkalyzing.

Lots of fresh greens, raw spinach, watermelon, a lemon a day, and goat's whey. Give it a whirl.

Thanks everyone for all the support. I'm going in today for a catscan, and then a followup with my doc this week. I'll keep you all posted.

something critical for you to consider is that a source of a high creatinine value in a lab test is muscle catabolism. keep a diary of your weight, take measurements etc so that you can assess how much muscle you have lost

I'm not sure if I fully understand this. Is there anyway of preventing muscle loss. Maybe up my calorie intake with some good fats instead of so much protein?

no thats not what i meant.

chances are right now you are going a bit catabolic since youve changed your diet, are a bit stressed/put out, have a painful acute condition etc etc. this will prop up your blood creatinine value (in the lab test.

many doctors will forget about muscle breakdown as a source of elevated blood creatinine, and will attribute the high creatinine to poor kidney function alone.

so, be sure to point out to the doctor that you have lost a lot of muscle (ie keep a diary) so that he doesnt think that your kidney function is worse than it actually is.

if he does think your kidney function is worse than he really is, then he might make reccommendations which are far too conservative, and will have a severe effect on your body

i was working in a hospital checking blood values (boooooooooooring) on a placement and i noticed that all the post operative patients had high creatinine values. i was thinking, gee, whats the story with these post op pateints and shitty kidneys? i had a chat with the long time pharmacist there, and he says that its because of all the muscle loss while they arent eating normally after the operation, and not ot worry too much

id bet that a lot of doctors in the community (ie like the one you are probably seeing) probably wouldnt be as on the ball about this issue when they considered your case

also, the post above about the acidity of many BBer activities was quite good :)

cheers
