I just ordered my Pumping Iron video. what the hell is PAL format.

after payin for the damm tape, i just noticed it say's make sure your vcr can play pal format. someone please help me out and tell me what that is.

I believe those are the 3 existing VHS formats used today. Each region has their own, Europe uses one and the US uses a different one, but i do not know which. But you can bet if the tape is coming from Europe it will not work on you VCR.

pal is the european format... if you aren't in europe you DON'T want that.

The reason manufacturers do that is to stop bootlegging of movies or albums in countries the merchandise hasn't been released in. DVD's have region coding that works that way.

Look at it this way: if it doesn't work on your vcr you can easily sell it to someone on this board.

OK, I know for a fact that many of the new model VCR's can be switched from regions. I know mine can. I can view home movies I made in Europe 6 years ago.

PAL is the system we use in Australia aswell. Most VCR's made in the last 6 years can play all forms
