I just got a bike!!!!

I hate to tell you bro, but that bike is about fifth in speed bro. I"ve been riding sport bikes for years, i got a 2001 GSXR1000 that will eat a blackbird. Don't get me wrong, its a nice ass bike, but its heavy and definitely not second in line. The haybusa, 1000, R1, and the ZX12 will all outperform it bro.

I was the one who said that the blackbird is 2nd in line to the hyabusa...it is true. The hyabusa runs 0-60 in 2.6-2.7 seconds and the cbr1100 runs it in 2.9 seconds. There are no bikes that are faster. The blackbird is heavy but when you say outperform, you have to be more specific....1/4 mile, 0-60, long run??

BUT a Busa and CBR 1100 is like apples and oranges.

The CBR 1100 is not a true sport bike, but rahter looks like one. Its a heavy, long, smooth and stable sport CRUISER not racer. So while other bikes are faster they lack Hondas refinement in the engine and the bike overall. They will perform better on the track but not on the 500mile trip.

So i absolutely agree but keep in mind that this is a tourer. But because of it's possible 180mph (195mph theoretical) top speed some regard it as a bike designed for racing, but in reality Honda designed the CBR 1100XX with touring and commuting in mind.

gw put that well, i was speaking of basic "power" of feel of power. I guess im saying if we all took off for a crazy ride, overall the 1000, the R1, the 954 would all be out of site of the blackbird!!! And my 1K, although not stock, will crush the 1100 on top speed, i know from experience.

Well, once you go modified all bets are off. IMHO i always really liked the CBR1100 for it's comfort and smoothness, believe or not i really do not like sport bikes, LOL!!! They shake and vibrate too much, too damn adrenal to take on a nice trip

But once you modify, hell you can turbo the Black Bird and take it over 200MPH. But that would be defeating the purpose of the bike, which is to commute and tour. No 1100cc bike will handle like a 600cc in the tight turns.

Point is, the cbr1100 XX is the fastest production sport tourer, not race bike. I could be wrong it could be second but in reality who cares. one can go 180mph another 183, yet another 184. The differences are not big. But give me the Honda anyday.

Thanks gwl9dta4 for your rationale (as usual). The renaissance man....that's who you are. Has anyone ever told you that??

If your were in australia (which you might be), I'd say you are now a temporary Australian! Noe messin' around eh! Straight to the Big Bird! They are awsome! Bit too big for my liking, but I am sure you'll enjoy it! Be safe.

Thanks for the encouragement! Like I said before, it is a sharing bike between my boyfriend and I. We had to make a compromise. He is the biggest guy I have ever known so we had to get a big bike. I am confident that I can manage on any bike. We fell in love with the blackbird and it is VERY popular in europe as well. They tour hundreds of miles with them over here (with their children on the back)!!

Bunny, glad to see you are so confidant that you can handle it. Given your confidence you probably won't mind taking this little test:

Have your b/f lay the bike down flat on its side. If you can get it back upright by yourself (no help) you are big enough to ride it. If you can't... you need a smaller bike.
