I was coming home and I pull the corner on my street and the neighbors golden retriever puppy ran out infront of the car while I was changing the radio station. I ran it over with my front left tire.

It was horrible, puppy blood and guts all over the place and her owner was the next door neighbors daughter who is 11 years old.

I feel horrible.

Whats worse is the little girl was playing in the yard, and I screeched to a stop when I hit it, the puppy was under the tire and the pressure made it's eyes pop out and stuff.

I hope that little girl doesn't need therapy. The parents are pissed but I told them they should have had the dog on a leash.

Doesn't matter what you do with your life now....puppy killer!

Yeah it sucks Flexygrl, the parents want me to pay for it because I was going 50 in a residential zone, but that is bullshit.

awwwwwww, poor little puppy!!:bawling:

That sucks! I hit a dog once. It was so horrible. I can still see his little eyes looking at me right before the car hit him.

Your lucky it wasn't a kid.

Go apologize and offer to buy a new puppy.

I already said I was sorry but I can't afford to pay for the puppy, that money is for my next cycle.

Stupid little girl should have kept better watch of her puppy, regardless of how fast I was driving.

A little less graphic, and a lot more remorse please ......personally if you were doing 50 in my subdivision, and you hit my dog, I would be wearing your head as a hat..........

Oh I see. It's my fault just because I was going 50 and changing the radio?

The puppy shouldn't have been 3 feet off of the sidewalk in the first place. It should have been in the yard.

WODIN said:

I really don't think he should.

It's their fault for letting it run into the streets. Although what you suggested is a nice gesture, the parents have already proven what kind of people they are by demanding him pay for it and getting angry.

What if a farmer's cattle got loose and were all over a highway, causing accidents. Would you still expect the drivers to buy him new cattle plus pay for their car damage? Same concept to me.

As for the puppy , that is too bad. I know you must feel like crap.

Actually now that I think about it I don't really feel that bad. The stupid parents should have had the dog on a leash.

I say at least use the puppy meat for a good cause. Feed the homeless.

I agree, well except for wearing your head part. I would just park my car on you.:(

LOL - I hope he is joking.

My friend is the angel of death for animals. I have gone on drives with him and every mile he would kill something. Birds would crash into his window, squirrels would run under his tires - 3 baby badger looking things stopped in the road - had they not stopped, they woudl have lived, he got them too.

He doesn't try to kill them, it just happens.
We were on a run and a German Shepard came running up to him, but got blasted by a pickup truck on the way - that sucked to see and hear.

The same guy was walking over to pet the dog of this girl we knew - she was always talking in college about how much she loved this dog.
So my friend goes over to say hi and the dog looked at him and then bolted into the street and got hit by an SUV and way killed.

I could go on and on. I told him never to come near my dad's dog.

hey (((paulso))) did he bust the headlight on your rabbit? or have you since gotten an awesome miata?

That's pretty fucked up. That's why the speed limit is only 25 is most neighborhoods. Somebody should kick you into the road and have a truck run your ass over.

WTF Neighbors just came over and asked me if I would at least help bury the dog because the wife is old and has Arthritis or some fucking bullshit.

I just told them to quit harassing me or I will get the police involved.

Well let's see....residential areas= 15-25 mph

Fine for doubling the speed limit in said residential area= 6 month suspension. (in most states)

reason for said speed limit....kids as well as puppies have been known to end up in the street, despite parents best efforts.

had you run over and killed a kid, we wouldn't be having this discussion as your ass would be in jail.

obviously not an animal lover so I won't bother you with any more of my opinion's

previous head being worn as hat statement still stands, as I have no kids except my dogs......

I live out in the country where nobody knows what the leash law is. I have run over my fair share. I feel bad, but figure if the people are stupid enough to let them run in the street then thats bound to happen.

jesus lay off the guy, what was the dog doing in the street...you don't expect to see a puppy in the road, speeding is a part of everyones life...we all do it, and we all like music so lay off him.

I wouldn't pay for the puppy either. If you gave me attitude when I asked you what happened though, I'd get pissed off and might demand you pay for it. Give them a card or something, with an apology on it. Tell them you would pay for the puppy, but there is no way you can afford it. Puppies are hundreds of dollars after all. You could make a few calls to the SPCA or whatever. Might do the trick.

Think the point here is that you could've been doing 50 and changing the radio and hit a kid or a person in the neighborhood. I'm not saying I don't speed, but in residential zones I try keep it at the speed limit.

flexygrl said:
If it was a kid you could be facing manslaughter charges, instead of someone wanting you to shell out the $500-1k that they paid for a pure bread puppy.

If you don't have the green, then you don't have it. Do you think they will take you to court for this? Hopefully they will just see it as an accident. In the future, I hope you'll drive a little bit more slowly, especially in a residential area. Personally, you just opened my eyes a bit. I need to start driving a little bit more carefully in my neighborhood.

A few things.

1. I don't think the puppy was made of Bread. When I hit it there was blood everywhere and I've never seen bloody bread.

2. I will drive whatever speed I want, period.

3. If they want to take me to court they can kiss their cats ass goodbye.

Yeah it sucks Flexygrl, the parents want me to pay for it because I was going 50 in a residential zone, but that is bullshit.

Okay, the way I see it, and now don't kill me, is that you are both at fault. Them for letting their dog off lead(that's why there are laws for this)....you for speeding(again, laws).

I can't personally say that I respect the speed limit in my neighborhood, but I most certainly slow down. There are tons of kids and animals in my neighborhood. You are very lucky that it was not a child. If it was a kid you could be facing manslaughter charges, instead of someone wanting you to shell out the $500-1k that they paid for a pure bred* puppy.

Why should I have to bury it? I am wearing new clothes and I don't want blood and dirty all over me and shit.

Yes it is illegal for a dog not to be on a leash here. Therefore if they took me to court I don't think they could do much.

The animal population is out of control anyways, Paulos. We should be thanking you.....if you hadn't of hit the puppy, it would of probably shit in someone's yard.

Don't get me wrong I love dogs.....this story would of been better if it was a cat.

I am not at fault, the dog should have been leashed instead of 3 feet off of the curb.

Paulos,

Sorry, typo.... bred*

I think you should at least give the little girl a stuffed animal, no?

I guess I could do that but I don't feel like going to the mall, it's like 2 miles away.

Maybe I will just give her 10 bucks to buy her own stuffed animal?

Paulos, post some before and after pics. Before you hit it, and then after. That way we can best judge your progress. Try to be as descriptive as possible with your routine {how fast your were driving}, supplements {intoxicated} and overall diet plan {eating and not paying attention to the road} that way we can help correct future problems. Yours in sport.

You just admitted to speeding.

I don't know why I'm wasting my breath on this anyway. You are obviously joking...no one can be that cruel.

This has happened to me twice. Once when I was 11, once when I was 19. Both times were accidents. Let me tell you, it's not cool and not funny. If you had loved an animal and went through this, you would understand.

I am not cruel I just don't like being taken advantage of, which is what the parents are trying to do. Clearly that puppy wasn't the pick of the litter, now they want me to buy their daughter a better puppy with the only money I have? I don't think so.

50mph on a residence area is looking for trouble. I mean I drive fast, but 50 in your own yard? Sorry bro, but this is your fault.

I'd understand if the puppy got on the highway or the middle of a big street, but it just means you weren't careful enough and hit it.

Now they are at fault too if there is a law to keep it on a leesh, but these kinds of laws aren't really enforced and you don't really hear about it all the time. I'm not sure what would happen if they take you to court, but IMO you should at least help them out in some ways ... if you can't afford to buy them a new puppy.

Ofcourse, this is the nice thing to do, I probably wouldn't do it.

-sk

I can just see paulso comin around the corner in his 1987 brown chevy celebrity and "its rainin men" comes on the predominently gay radio station, of coarse this is his fav song so he has to crank it up, paulso started barking as he was so happy his song was on and thus attracted the puppy and slam, instead of rainin men it was rainin puppy brains. then this little slut of a bitch 6 year old came along crying and Paulso bummed her some smokes gave her a slap on the ass and sped off into the distance, its freakin beautiful.

Mmmmmm!

Puppy Chow.

If you wouldof hit the daughter, Paulos, these folks would of put up less of a fight. Next time go for the kid.

I tried to hit the daughter too but my celebrity doesn't handle well enough.

well, if it is a joke, it's not very funny.

When I was 19 I bought my first dog, with my own money. I loved this dog. I raised it and took care of it on my own. I loved it more than anything. One night my dad was ripping up the carpet in my bedroom. He brought the carpet outside, through the back door. The dog pushed past him. The gate was open and she ran out. She got hit by a car. She lived for 4 days. I thought she was going to pull through. I took out a loan to pay for her care, that I am still paying off.

To make a really long and sad story short, she died. It really hurt not only me, but my whole entire family. She was a great dog and everyone loved her. So, please even if you hate animals, consider other people's feelings.

LOL, I realized halfway down the 3rd page that you must be joking. But since I was prepared to respond, I'll say it anyway:

DICK!!!!!!

:D

Hey Sorry Flex it was just a joke, I have a Maltese and a Shitzu that I love dearly.

I don't even have a car either.

Don't really see how anyone can hate animals. I was out of town one Christmas and had boarded my dog at a local kennel. Well when I returned home I was told that he got out of his cage. So naturally I went looking for him only to find a dead dog laying on the street in front of the kennel. I thought I hope thats not what I think it is. Well unfortunately it was. He got hit when he tried to escape. I was really torn up about it for a long time. Like loosing a member of the family.

MFman,

You are not kidding. When I read his thread, I felt that heartache start up all over again. Before she died, I was training like a mad women. I was in the gym almost everyday. After it happened, I just didn't want to do anything anymore. I stopped training, ate like shit and gained weight. Finally, after a long time I am back on track. She was like my child.

The first month I had her, I went away and my friend watched her for me. When I came home from my weekend away, I wondered whether or not she would remember me. Well, I picked her up and she was sooooo excited to see me(which really doesn't mean anything because all dog owners know even if you leave for five minutes, it's like 5 years to your dog). She sat in my lap on the way home and just stared at me the whole ride. I think she was thinking,"wow, she came back".

She was such a good girl. Now I feel like crying.:bawling:

I want to cuss you out! Slow your ass down. It's doubtful you would have hit the dog had you been going the speed limit. If I see someone speeding down my street like that, I yell at them. Next time it might be a kid that you run over. Having said all that, I've been guilty of speeding in a residential area also, but I know that's wrong, and so should you.

you don't even have a car. and who drives at 50 mph when they are next door to their own house? Were you going to slam the brakes when you got to your driveway?

Dang and I thought I was the only one with problems with people and their pets. But at least I didn't kill the kittens it was my dogs.

Oh and by the way PUPPY KILLER( I just had to sorry)

Ok, I take back what I said. But that was a really bad joke and not funny in the least. It's not funny to joke about people's animals being run over. Especially when that's not exactly an old issue with some people.

Yes. Because it's illegal. There's a reason why they have SPEED LIMIT signs posted all over the place. It's not for show you know.

Trust me. Just swallow your pride and buy her a new puppy. 10 years from now, you'll feel much more of a human for doing so. Remember, they're going through trauma right now, while you're going through the expense of a new car wash.

If it was me, even if it wasn't my fault -- i'd do it...just for the poor girl's sake.

ya i agree.....50 is wreckless driving in a area with kids playing and houses with drive ways that back up to the street..

Seriously have no clue what you're talking about, I never went into the Britney site.

I've never run over a dog, but the worse story I have like this happened when I was driving from Houston to College Station, and there was a big black lab flopping on the side of the road, with its low body run over. I felt so bad for it, that I couldn't keep driving, so I stopped, got out and shot it in the head to put it out of its misery. Maybe that sounds sick to alot of people, but it was better than leaving it like that alive in total agony, which I would have felt alot worse if I had done.

It HAD to be done!!!

I was stuck on a little road on time with a truck coming at me from the other side and a drop off on the other, and a squirrel ran in front of me and I had to hit it.

I cried for 2 days of that squirrel!!

My sister did the same thing when she was 16 and had her first car. She came home crying about it, and woke my dad up when he was taking a nap. Honestly it was rather amusing that she got so worked up over this squirrel. I remember my dad, who is an avid hunter and has killed many animals, trying to comfort her and keep a straight face. He was hugging her, and was like, "it will be ok... you didn't mean to hit him... I'm sure he is very happy in squirrel heaven now..."

That was actually very humane. I would've done the same thing and I love animals.

As for the whole thread, not funny. If Paulos had really ran over a puppy, say MY puppy, while speeding and had this attitude about it, I would've beaten him so badly...Just can't stand people who don't give a crap about animals.
