I cant get a lifting partner :(

i lift at a ballys and all my friends dont belong there becuz its really expensive and i somehow got it for like 11 dollars a month and no one else can get this deal. Now i have no one to lift with and am only 16. No one else there my age lifts as hard as me. My one friend goes there but he is terribly unmotivated and lifting is a HUGE part of my life. I cant relate to anyone close to my age at my gym, becuz they come and do bench, curls, and triceps then run. they dont know what a deadlift, good morning, squat, snatches, or even incline press is. They want big biceps and thats it, damn i hate commercial gyms! there are 5-6 huge guys and they work there and would never lift with a little guy like me. :/

How do you know? You should always try to surround yourself with people that are where you want to be. Training with people bigger and stronger than you always makes it easier to make progress...because you are constantly reminded that it can and has been done before.

Having said that...its probably better to work out alone than you waste your time with a training partner that is just going to hold you back.

im sure if you went up to them and asked they would help you out and lift with you. i know if someone came to my gym and wanted to lift hardcore with me id have no problem.

I think the only benefit of a training partner is someone to spot with. Otherwise you just wind up spending more time in the gym not doing anything.

I could see the argument that a training partner helps motivate you - helps you get into the gym - but I don't think that's a problem for you.

I agree with Hannibal. Working out with people who are stronger than you is the best way to get stronger yourself.

The progress I have made since I started training with my partner is HUGE compared to the progress I made before. It is definitely worth a shot to talk to those guys.

This is very true. I think I have made my best gains because I have lifted with and compared myself to larger people. It kept me chasing a goal. Plus, just because they are big, doesnt mean they are assholes. They may be more then happy to lift with you.

...... its not just the size its the age difference..... im 16 they are 26 at the youngest. plus switching weights is such a pain for the huge difference. lastly 4 of them work there and are trainers so i can lift with them but they will charge me :/

and i only want a partner for a spotter.... plus to push each other but mainly for a spotter :/
